I honestly do not know about the cost of the each guns you mentioned, but I heard the FN 240 is pretty expensive to build (but not super expensive like the Swiss made ones.).
For the accuracy, I think the HK 21 is probably the most accurate of all you mentioned. It is because it is the only machine gun that uses roller-locking device, unlike the other ones you are naming.
the MG 42, MG3 and FN M420 al use the gas-piston machenism, so when shooting in full auto, it creats vibrations after the fist shot.
Furthermore, the gas-piston machenism makes the gun more "fat" and bulky, because you have to put the piston and cams, etc, devices. This also make the gun slightly less accurate in long range. Slimmer the gun, better accuracy in long range.
You will be surprised to know the famus semi-suto sniper rifle PSG-1, MP5, G3 by HK all use the same roller locking device. Yes, in case of HK 21, the firing mechanism is exactly same as that of the sniper rifle PSG-1.
But reliability, it is another story. I believe the HK 21 is technically bit less reliable than the ones you mentioned.

What about the M-60 or the SAW, the M-60 is a knockoff of the MG-42 though. I don't have any idea how much you could get one for, but if you can find a working model I would imagine that it would cost a fortune!

The MG-42 is a very good MG. IT has an extremely high rate of fire though. An inexperienced gunner can run out of ammo very fast. I found it to be very accurate though. (to be honest though I was more worried about running out of ammo and was concentrating more on rate of fire when I was shooting for the Schutzenshur medal). The M240b is another good all around MG. It has good accuracy and it rarely jams up. But in my humble opinion nothing beats the Duece. The M-2 MG .50cal the big boy on the battlefield. very dependable, very accurate, and when the duece talks people listen !!

Fully auto machine guns are illegal to own in the U.S.
The only way to get around that is if you apply for a class III license with the ATF and pay annual taxes to keep your license valid. There is a very DEEP background check conducted before they give you a class III license, not just any Joe Blow can have one. Usually this pretains to the dealers and or hard core collectors.
With this license you may purchase fully auto weapons, but you can only sell to class III license holders or dealers. The ATF keeps track of this, and fully auto machine guns (depending on their condition) would run run you anywhere from $5-$15 THOUSAND dollars and UP.
I found a BAR WWII issued for $6700 like the kind you see in Saving Pvt Ryan (the movie) just to give you an idea.

the M60E is a very good machine gun, but the cost over $30,000.
the M240 is too new to be on the market, there are no machine guns after made 1986 that can be legally transferred to civilians.
machine guns are legal to own in the US, there is no renewable license required, it is a one time tax of $200 to transfer it.

As far as I understood from the Defense Magazine Cal 30 & MG3 are alike and slight variation is in the dead weight! Both of them have superior firepower and world class accessories.
Price you have to find it with the local agent for the specified product!

They are all good weapons. My opinion on all machine guns is that the one I like the best is the one I am behind, as opposed to the one that is pointed at me!
