It's true, they do not play cowboy anymore. Mine play starwars or football or baseball outside and they are into bugs and creepy crawlies

Children don't play..... anything anymore... that uses imagination.
As my children were growing up I purposely made them shut off the TV on a rainy day. We sat on the couch until everyone was really bored and then I started playing with them using imagination. We would be pirates and build a ship out of the living room furniture. We were arctic explorers and built a tent out of blankets, we were Cowboys and built a ranch. The kids quickly learned to use imagination.
Even now when my 11 yr old has a friend over the thing they most want to do is build a tent, or explore the seas on a boat. The friends that have never been over before, find for the very first time, the wonders of using your imagination.

You know, I hadn't thought of that, but I guess it's true. I never see or hear kids playing cowboy anymore. That's sad, we played all the time. I think the tv's, game systems, computers and i-pods are damaging the imaginations of children.

we have about 15 small kids on our street that are close to the same age , what saddens me is when I am outside watching them play ( my son included) they are not playing cowboys or army when they are playing with their guns they are playing GANGSTA. They are passing play money around and running up to each other saying gimme ur money or i will put a cap in ur ***. It is mostly 4 certain kids that do this and drag the others into it.

In days gone by it was common for them to play cowboys because there were alot of westerns on the radio or TV. Today there aren't.

Well the kids dont play cowboys anymore because they have been taught in school that its not politically correct to shoot the Indians so what fun is it?

My kids play cowboy!! We don't allow them to spend too much time watching TV or playing video games, so they still have to use their imagination ;o)

That's cuz they don't make westerns anymore. Plus, I guess it's "not nice" to go scalp a bunch of Injuns.
Blame video games, TV and the Internet. Kid's don't have to imagine things to do with their friends since it seems someone else is doing that for them.

Who lets their kids out anymore, just to play? Its all play dates and Game Boys and computers. I even play games with my grandchildren instead of running around outside like I did with my kids, of course my knees are a lot older now.
