I'm going to Hawaii for a couple of weeks... should I stay in Kihei for 2 weeks, or Paia, or try to split between the two? Which is more fun?

if you got transportation, then stay in kihei because then you'd be in the middle of everything. in paia, you'd be more on the east end of the island, but closer to all the major site seeing attractions and in kihei, you'd be in the middle of the island farther from those attraction sites, but closer to ocean activities and shopping. i live in kihei and find it more convenient here. it hardly rains and a lot of nice beaches in this area. lahaina, on the west side of the island has killer surfing spots, but it all depends on what gender you are and what your interests are. paia is known as the hippie town. hope this answers your question and hope you enjoy your stay in maui!

ALOHA -- -- Plenty mo' to do in Kihei though Paia is nice; split the time but spend more time in Kihei..
