At this time (17th October) there are still 90 horses left in the Cup. (After the 2nd declarations). So, when you don't even know what the final field of 24 horses is...you have to be crazy to declare what you think will win the Cup on the 7th of November. Many things can change between now and then.

But....seeing as you asked:

YEATS
RAILINGS
TAWQEET

The reason for this is that at this point in time the odds are best on these 3 horses.

I wish I knew. Each year, like many other Australians, I try to pick the first three horse but it is such a strong field that picking the winner is anyones guess.

The final 24 horses are declared and the jockeys named a couple of days before the race but we normally find that one or two of these are scratched. So trying to make a selection now is not worth the effort.

A got a funny feeling one of the international horses will get it this year. Perhaps from the goldafin stable. They have have won every major race in the world exept the melbourne cup. Good luck

No such thing. The entry fee for the cup is so high that the horses don't get entered if they don't have a serious chance of winning. It is a race full of champions and as such a sweep is the best bet
