I just read in a question regarding Korea's nuclear testing "as a non US person I feel more concerned about threat of US to world peace." Do you agree or disagree... and if so, why do you feel the US is a threat to world peace, specifically YOUR country?

Please include what country you live in and if you use facts or stats, please remember to provide your sources/references. eg. don't use sweeping generalizations like "America's been at war most of the time of it's existense" without listing the dates and names of those wars and why you think the US was unjustified to be in that war. thanks.

Questioner, there's never been anything called "world peace", and there never will be. An old SIPRI study had one of their research teams try to figure out exactly how long the world has been at war. After digging through multiple sources, they found that they could account for some part of the world being at war during every single year since the birth of Christ (with the exception of 41 days or so where records were insufficient).

Most of the people who complain about the United States either come from homogeneous societies where the social order index is extremely high (Scandinavian countries, Japan) that have had their own sins to reckon with (rabid nationalism or militant racism) or from countries where the domestic crime situation is so terrible (Brazil, the Philippines) that they might as well be considered to be in a permanent state of war.

You are more likely to be brutalized by your countrymen in any of these countries that complain (or don't) than have American troops banging down your doorstep. Whether it's the policeman trying to shake you down for the bribe (Egypt) the kidnapper ransoming your child back to you piece by piece (Italy) or the endless coup d'etats (Thailand) or the border skirmishes that turn into artillery duels (Pakistan-India) there are plenty of "threats to world peace" that have nothing to do with America. When was the last time since the Second World War that the United States used nuclear weapons? How many countries have since then joined the Nuclear Club? And America is the biggest threat how? The most volatile? The most unstable? How many coup d'etats has the United States had? How many times has the United States tried to work through diplomacy and mediation before engaging in hostilities?

As for "my country" - my country of origin has a security pact with the United States, and I hardly think America is any threat or danger since they provide the bulk of national defense.

Knee-jerk reactions born of propaganda don't make for facts or stats. They just don't. Having global reach means having global concerns, but also being open to being sniped from everyone across the world. That sniping may not be right, but it makes people feel better. Like complaining about teachers or your boss. Small comforts belong to small people. Let these people keep them.

NO as well as YES

For "NO":
If US didn't share the expenses for running the United Nations - we may be living in an earth that doesn't have any communication facility, international understanding, a forum that looks deeply into health, food, education, cultural, International Judiciary and other problems. The UN accomodates the tiger and deer to have water in the same pond. The US is the reason!

If US is not there our world might have given birth to several Hitlars, Saddham Hussains, Stalins, Musolinis, Binladins....At a certain time all these dictatorial minded people are totally wiped away with only US's direct intevention only. That shows the democratic rights and equal power distribution among the rulers and the ruled.

Coming to "YES"...
It is a way of family solidarity - as US takes it granted, "we spent huge amount of money, (collected as taxes fron US citizens) to the welfare of other nations by grants and exgratia, why should we tame them in the event of any wrong policy is followed, that could endanger the interest and coexistance of US that could rise anywhere in this world!"

So without any body's permission they entered in other country's political activities. Even the heads of a number of Islamic States are reading the policy of the US in their Parliament / assembly. So the policy is decided in washington and the rulers are protected by US government.

Even if you avail a small amount financial assistance from your relative or friend, your helper will expect that the helped has to faithful and go according to his wish.

Whereas most of the countries need the US help and on getting that completely, they spit in US face.

Now Coming to North Korea, 5' 2" tall President trying to put his little finger in the @$$ hole of 6' tall US President by threatening that he would burnout Japan and South Korea with Nuclear explosions. Good ... let him... If US is not there, this little fellow will ask for Billion of dollars by threatening with same sentence to other surrounding countries also. It has to be stopped at some where and the break is applied now.......

Keep in mind, during the Cold War, the US and the USSR battled out for each other by imposing their influence on other nations. To those who say that the US and USSR should batte on? If that happens it would ignite WW3. Without the US trying to keep the eye on what USSR is doing, we would not be typing here what we have today. Sure the US had some bad decision of support brutal dictators for their own interest but question: What happens if we stayed out and let the USSR do what it wants? Think about it.

I think the Bush administration is currently a major threat to world peace, but I also think many other regimes out there are also a big threat. The guy from N.Korea is a big threat (but not because he is trying to get Nukes and not because he is communist, because he is a dictator), China will become a bigger threat than the US. I think most countries truely do not care about their people, just the guys with the money and/or the power. The people need to take control of the world, only then will there truely be world peace and democracy.

being an amercian are you ashamed of ur self or not?

if u can reply sincerely to this question after going through all the american's history then you will get you answer.

What personaly i feel that US has been very agressive to hold the world's control, economy wise, financialy, politically, but where ever its see that its interest is getting hurt in that region, and its not getting back on track through money/suppling arms/favortism in trade, it try to do it by force and that creat a war situation

Near USA Cuba is threat to USA, now venizvila is also joined.

There are so many place now where US is in war.....
9/11 drama was prepared by CIA to get the reason for attach on Afghanistan......Al Qaeda...first deny 9/11 attach on WTC and then Usama comes up with acceptance.....that they did it.

Same happend to Iraq....there was no WMD....but just to hold the place from where US can keep an eye on this region......like they got the place on KSA...

Iraq was not the Direct Threat to US, now north korea is Problem for USA....

Iran is another moron for USA....

it seems USA is the only country who has problem with every one.....

this made us beleive that it is US who is destroying the world Peace...by financially, by supplying arms, etc etc....

I currently live in the United States, but, I think that has little or nothing to do with my opinion on this issue.
I think the biggest threat to world peace is fools with bombs.
The 2nd biggest threat is people in power that wish to cast blame for their actions on others and or other countries.
The 3rd are the fanatics that wish negate the freedoms of others and who shield themselves by spouting their perversions of perfectly decent Religions. I don't mean any one religion either,, so don't jump on me for that either.
BTW you ask if we" agree or disagree and if so why do you feel the US is a ... " I hope this was a slip up and not an indication that you expect us all to agree with that point of view.

Look at the start of the 2nd world war. All countries, US included were a threat to world peace for not acting against clear threats to world order.

Worry more about who is fighting than who started the fight. Think of it this way: the cop and the criminal both use violence. But we sleep better knowing the cop is enforcing our laws.

The reason why the US is off the track is the fact that it's been hijacked by corporate mafia and zionist lobby. Moreover the economy analysts in charge have been seeing military expenditure as a tool to stimulate the economy disregarding other nations sovereignty, people's lives and ethics. As an Iranian I've no problem with any American thinking our regime sucks too.

John Misqiet From Bangalore, India,
By the way , who do you work for, CIA ? Mossad? LOL,
That anyways doesnt bother me one bit,
You can have my cell no too from Yahoo. or Google

Honey,
Dont be sooo Naive,
You want dates of wars, Ridiculous I would say,
They the Americans, have been at death and destruction continiously from the last 15 years at least. Just in middle East directly and for the last 50 years indirectly,

Each country has over a million killed, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine,

If terrorism is bombing civilians, What did America do in Japan, dropped roses? so what does it make America, A terrorist country and a rouge state ? or a dove?

I hope your bombs are prefumed, see? cause the other guys whos houses you have raided dont have thier that way, They are I think fighting against an Invasion, and an occupation.

Who is getting killed in Iraq, and whats Americas business if Iraq has a fight with Q8?

Should France or Sudan Bomb America cause it is causing miseries in Cuba,

America should learn to mind its own business.

The US like to be an international police, forcing their values and belives on other countries, and goes into or causing problems that are nothing of their business. They never care about what other says, nor show respect to others because of the super power it has. Many countries in the UN were against the US raging war in the middle east, but it just ever listen to them and did it anyways. It would remove any threats to itself at the expense of others. I don't know how that could be justified.
