First, for all of the "quick and easy" weight loss diet pill suggestions, remember, if something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, particularly if you have to pay for it.

On Yahoo!Answers I find certain questions being asked repeatedly which is simply a reflection of new people participating. A couple of common questions amount to "How do I lose weight," or more specifically, "How do I lose abdominal fat?" I have gotten very positive responses from my answers when I paused to reply (and now beginning to get "It works!" emails that are very gratifying. I like helping people)... so have recently decided to put a good solid answer on my Yahoo!360 Blog (September 10) that I can point people to. These are my thoughts as a physician and athlete.

Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful.

There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below.

The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.

Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.

To lose a pound of fat, you need to eliminate about 3500 calories. You can do this by burning more with exercise or by modifying your diet to reduce intake. If you do a Google search on say, "swimming calories" you will quickly find a website with tables of calories burned for a given exercise. You can use such lists to estimate how many calories you are burning up with your routine.

For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.

Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.

There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you work them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.

If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.

Take caffeine 200 mg and Ibuprofen 600 mg twice a day, but be careful! This will make your metabolism go through the roof. Drink a h*** of a lot of water, 1 - 2 gallons a day, maybe three, and workout about 1 hour a day, work it up to about 3 hours a day. And get off the diet pill.
Im like not even joking about any of this.

Works in wrestling.

Unfortunately there is very little that can be done about loose skin, particular in the stomach area, except cosmetic surgery. That is a big problem with people who have had gastric bypass surgery. Many times insurance will cover the bypass surgery because of all the potential health problems of being overweight, but they will not cover the cosmetic surgery needed to remove the loose skin.

Wish I had better news.......congratulations on your weight loss. Keep up the good work!

How to lose bellyfat
Losing fat is not an easy task, but gaining fat is very easy. You need to keep a check on the diet and do workouts for your abs to lose tummy fat. You also need to do aerobic exercises like swimming, jogging etc. Here are some points to keep in mind to lose belly fat:· Consume less sugar, processed foods and sodium. · Eat fiber rich foods like green leafy vegetables.· The diet should contain protein, carbohydrates and little fat.· Drink plenty of water and fruit juices.· Eat in small quantities for five to six times a day. · Do at least 30-60 minutes cardiovascular exercises at least 4 times a week. · Do strength training and ab exercises at least 3 times a week.

Tummy fat is not good for the body as it increases the chances of many diseases like diabetes, heart attack etc. A whole body workout is required to lose weight from your tummy, spot reduction is a myth, you cannot lose fat by doing stomach crunches or ab workouts only. A complete workout, which includes cardiovascular exercises, helps improve metabolism and you will be able to lose tummy fat quickly. Try to lose weight naturally by doing hard work and controlling your diet.

hes right. but if u stick with it, next year youll look a million times better then now. keep a journal with food intake/times on it...also take a bikini photo everymonth to track progress....dont use a scale...ur building muscle to lose weight...1lb of muscle uses 500 calories per day...so stick with squats, jump squats, and multi joint exercises....try HIIT training...high intensity interval training...sprint 30 seconds, job 1 min (or to ur good to sprint another 30)....its best to run/work out in the am,,,,youll boost ur metabolism and burn more alll day. eat 6 small meals ove ur day...its better than 3 bigger meals. try high protien...if ur hungry eat a checken breast. protiens low in fat , is igested slower so u feel full longer. good luck....hardest part is sticking with it. you can do it!

Hate to say it, but you're losing weight too fast if you're using a diet pill to help you. Cuz of your size, you gotta go real slow or that will happen. Not just crunches, you have to do a lot of other exercises and running/jogging will help too.

Ive lost 80 lbs so far over the course of 3 years. Im trying to lose my last 10. I also have an extra skin problem in my lower regions. My breasts are gone down south as well. I mourn their passing. But Im not without some hope...

Ive searched high and low for home remedy type things that will work. After all, who wants plastic surgery? Its scary, painful and Im broke on top of it all.

Ive learned only a few things.

1. Our skin needs oils! Im hearing that fish oil supplements are a helpful aid for skin tightening, as well as a HUGE list of other benefits, such as better brain functioning, lower cholesterol, and weightloss aid just to name a few.

2. Skim milk. I heard this is good too. (To drink, not put on topically. lol)

3. Despite what people say, EXERCISE WONT TIGHTEN SKIN. It wont!! Your skin doesnt benefit from exercise really. Only the inside of your body does. Like your respitory system and muscles. You CAN increase the size of the muscles on your thighs and abdomen. That will make the skin appear tighter. Because youre filling in the space with muscle. So if youre only a little bit loose, this will benefit you. But for former "fatties" like myself, whos lost over 80 lbs, this will only help a little.

4. Indeed cardio is great. It wont tighten the skin, persay, but it will help you release all those toxins in your body through sweat. Itll help you stop retaining some water which makes the skin look more wrinkled and flabby. Drink a lot of water too! Stay away from salty foods, and theyre right, get off the diet pill. All this in conjuntion with number 5, will work wonders.

5. Skin brushing and exfoliating. Now this is insanely awesome. If all these resources are true, then skin brushing not only will tighten skin over time, but also reduce stretchmarks and increase circulation, which might even slightly reduce veins in your thighs.

Your skin is an organ. The 3rd most important one that helps your body release waste and toxins on a daily basis. Keeping it exfoliated and brushing away all that dead skin, helps bring good skin to the surface. Im not going to get into the technicals! These websites explained it way better!

http://www.isisboston.com/Cleansing/skinbrushing.htm <--- about skin brushing

http://www.massageandbodywork.com/Articles/OctNov2000/skinbrushing.html <--- some more!

http://www.lymphland.com/skinbrushing.html <-- a more basic read, including a list of benefits. It has some annoying midi playing, but its not THAT bad.. In fact you might rock out after a while, thats the annoying part.

You need one of those natural bristle, tan colored brushes they have with all the bath and shower stuff. Youll know it when you see it.

One of those sites says to do it in the shower. Ive also read on a seperate site that brushing the skin in the shower actually stretches it. So to be safe, I dry brush myself before I take a shower. Then use a gentle loofah in the shower. Then after Ive dried myself off with a towel, I dry brush again before applying lotion or oil. I guess a skin firming lotion would be good after that too! It REALLY removes dead skin quite well. I flicked the bristles by running my finger over it quickly, and you could see all the "skin dust" come out. Yeah thats gross, but I wanted to see if it was working. Rinse your brush every week and dry it well.

Guess you never know if itll tighten the skin unless you try it. Ive been doing it for a week now. It makes you feel so clean and fresh!

From what Im gathering, it takes a while. Hey, what do you expect, its not magic! Our bodies are amazing machines that help us out, but we have to keep helping it out too by staying on top of healthy routines.

So even if you dont see skin tightening results, skinbrushing has a ton of other health benefits. We should take better care of our skin!

If you have stubborn belly fat, the only way you can reduce your fat is by doing aerobic exercises. During activities like swimming, rowing and walking, enough oxygen is supplied to the body to burn fat. Fat is burned from all over the body, including the stomach.
