Being a white person. Angry at the white man as if I were not white. I know nobody. Why am I dissapointed in my race.

By the way... It takes me a lot to ask a question like this. It is something I have never spoken about. I don't need people talking crap, I really am trying to make something of it.

I dwell on what was wrong. See I believe whites are still doing just as they did long ago.
Things cannot be forgotten. The things done are aweful to say the least. I am so angry. Native Americans are people that I look up to.

The feeling is so deep that I could have been, and returned as what woman disturbed at my own race. That may be a dramatic thing to say, but I am disgsted, and ashamed. Yet I am one with beliefs that I can only find in Native American beliefe. I remember in first grade how I was so into a movie that was playing about Native American woman, and the jobs they did. I have not forgotten, only to now be more angry as an adult.

Oh i love the life, the tall trees which ounce were as numerious as the sand by the sea shore. They took only what they needed, they did not covet but took only what is needed for survival. They can run for days through the forest, as the arms of branches and bushes set forth as though it would embrace. They were warroirs, brave and fearless, at one with this beautiful earth God made for us. They could hear the songs of the trees and the voice of the streams, god how i miss the wilderness. It was freedom, it was foolish to destroy them for this digusting society of obesity, comfort, and slothfulness. They were fit hunters, they would work hard, and treated with respect all the things of god. The godless were those who pushed them off their land, killed their women and children and destroyed the natural beauty of this land. The trees were beautiful, the red woods, greater than the empire state building, the rivers and the birds, greater than these cars and foolish lusts. I hate this new world, of man, metal, and steel, I hate concrete jungles, they are hideous places an insult to humanity. I love the beauty of nature, i love their life of peace and understanding, they had the knowledge of survival, better than the knowledge of how to beat the new level of a video game any day. My only regret, they did not know of the love and grace of the lord our god Jesus Christ but who can blame them with such horrible examples.
But forgive your race, I do, for the sins of the fathers shall not be placed upon the children. For all men and women are beautiful, we are all human just different because of the natural habitats we grew up in but are all essentailly the same, we all came from Adam and Eve. every race has made mistakes, doesn't mean every body from that race are the same as those who made the mistakes.

Well, I'm part Sioux - so I'm disappointed in both races. Neither is perfect. I was raised in the white world, so am just am challenged in seeking out my heritage. I have found that unless you have a clear and free geneology - where you can prove that you have no American Indian blood in you - you may have some. Alot of things happen that are not recorded. Way back when - relationships between American Indians and whites were contraband - that was not accepted and not to be done. For many years after the social security system was developed - American Indians were not given numbers. But, love will prevail - and I believe there are more mixed race Americans than we really know about. So like on my Danish side of the family - I'm actually royalty because of an affair - can't prove that one either - can't prove my American Indian heritage because of the social security thing - so alot of us I think have alot more to our background and heritage than we realize - if several generations choose not to even talk about things - you could have some American Indian blood in you that you have no idea about. I mean okay so the fact that I'm mixed race - it's a part of who I am not to be predjudice - I might be more prone to it - if I was only of one descent. I've found that alot of the way I feel and think about things has more to do with my heritage and it explains alot about who I am, how I feel and the way I think. My vision is to learn how different parts of my heritage make me who I am and how I can interact with my world in a more positive way because of that.

well i guess if you are a direct descendant of Kit Carson, Custer or any other monster who thought wiping out Indians was a good idea then you got nothing to worry about. and i agree that's whats done is done and it is history but it is good that people have not forgotten..i guess most Indians still have some thoughts on the subject because massacres in Native American History is our 911(WTC) and its not fair to say Indians are a waste..i certainly do not think so..I'm full blooded Navajo fr AZ.
I think that trying to have an understanding of native Americans is a step in the right direction-just as long as no one exploits the knowledge or traditions. If it makes you feel any better "I forgive you".

Because you are misinformed. All whites are not responsible for the American Indians. Only a small percentage of whites were involved and their decendants only make up around 7-8% of the white population today. You should trace your ancesters and you will find that they most likely came after all of this mess and then you can take away your guilt and hatred for your own race. Be peaceful, like the Natives and forgive.

i am white. i was born and raised white. noone in my family talked about the Blackfoot blood that we have. it was a dirty secret that noone said anything about.

i found faith in paganism about 15 years ago and since then i have explored many fiaths. one of them was the spirituality of the Native Americans.

i met a shaman that told me that i needed a name. i researched the traditions behind granted native names and a few months later i asked him to name me. he said that i needed to see someone else and gave me a name of aonther shaman. i went to that shaman ans was named Elkstar Standingtree.

when i asked the signifigance of the name they told me
Elkstar is not a traditional name. and you are not a traditional person, so this name fits you.
standingtree is a traditional name and it is Blackfoot. you are named from the people that you came from.

a few months of research later i found a link to a marital relation and then a blood relation to the Blackfoot tribe.

i have learned much since then and have learned that many of the tribal Natives do nto hold a grudge. they look to the future and seek positions in political places so that they can work within the system of the white man. to change the treatment of the red man.

"White is a frame of mind and I do not SEE ANY WHITE PEOPLE HERE" this was said by Shaman Eaglebear at a gathering of Native Americans and People of earth religions.

they do not hate the white man for taking the land they see their own failure to keep it. and are looking to a future when the land will return to the people that will respect it.

do not be disapointed in your race get involved and work for change.

*********************************
the BIA and AIM are not Native firendly organisations. they are staffed by people that are 1/64 blood to 1/8 the bloos and most of them do not follow the ancient spirituality but they would tell true shamen that they cannot teach the so called white man.
very few natives that i have met trust the BIA and AIM. they see both of them as just a government form of control and a thin PR scam to convince other white folks that they are doing something to make things better.

I swear...given what lots of those human beings have suggested...if my grandfather became randomly some "spirit handbook" for some random guy or woman...which would be rather ordinary. ok, now providing you with the ease of the doubt, shall we say it surely handed off... do you have any interior sight history? as adversarial to a "spirit handbook" (why are interior sight human beings continually made out to be magical and not relatively human?), are you effective it would no longer have been an ancestor? If 'ghosts' of all and sundry have been to ever 'handbook' a guy or woman...IMO it purely is smart that it would be of their very own relatives. Why might someones grandpa be a 'handbook' to all and sundry else yet his very own relatives?

I think it is because most Native Americans are a waste now, they are drunks and pacified. They were once very proud and strong. I feel pity for them, but they need to get over it. What happened is history, it happened before and it will happen again. They have a rich culture that should be studied and understood. They need to quit feeling sorry for themselves and move on. I have native blood running in my veins and I have these feelings. Quit crying and start taking accountability for your actions. You have the same chance as anyone to be successful, you just have to take it!

I am part Creek and very proud. The Creek had to leave their homes or hide. They had no rights.
Now we must accept that these events happened in the past. We can still try to right what is wrong today by writing to and talking to our Congressmen and Senators, and attending Indian meetings to keep current.
Don't dwell on what cannot be changed.

I find myself in that situation alot. There's lots of things that others do that make me angry at our "race." Mostly, I feel ashamed to be linked with those types, simply due to my skin color.

You're not alone. Just take heart in knowing that you can be the one who changes someone else's opinion.
