Dear Kristi,, I think you will find that John Logie BAIRD was the first to successfully demonstrate the TV.. He was a Scotsman.
And as for Electricty, it occurs naturally and was not invented at all. It was discovered by, amoungst others James WATT (Scottish) Michael FARADAY (English) AMPERE (French I think) VOLTAIRE (French I think) Sorry guys, not a single American in there. Some Americans do think that they invented everything vis a vis Kristi who then slags off the the education of the questioner Mike. What did USA invent? Coke a Cola and Rock & Roll and the Lazer guided bomb. Very useful that. Not all Americans are stupid, but enough of them are to leave me worried. Kristi,,, retarded.. Yes someone sure is and it is not Mike. You ignorant piece of pig dung.

A lot of Americans never leave the states (no need to its big enough) and as such are unaware that there is an external world, something that is reinforced in thier schools when they get brainwashed into believing everything the government want them to believe. However as previously mentioned not all americans think this just the ignorant 80% of them. Also as most other countries dont back thier engineers and scientists financially most of them leg it to the states now to seek funding and then they claim the credit (even though it wasn't invented by an american if they were american funded then its thier invention allegedly)

So the Yanks invented Electricty , TV and Telephones , Well as some one has just pointed out and the telephone was a scot , Alexander Graham Bell.
Free healthcare is not just a Canadian thing , Most of the world has it.
And as for the internet is was a brit that invented that one, So once again claiming some thing you did not do.
And the light bulb was a brit as well , Granted it waqs an American that got it to the market first.
So what have the Yanks invented then . Not alot from these answers on here it would seem.

But to be fair, we should mention that Benjamin Franklin did discover that lightning is made of electricity! Before some American mentions it (it's bound to come up), Joseph Swann had a street in England lit by incandescent light bulbs before Edison invented the - er- incandescent light bulb. But the Americans have always been a bit sharper than the Brits on the marketing front.
I am not an American, by the way.

What is the percentage of inventions/ discoveries Indians made since 1947 and American made? How many technical papers being presented all over the world from india (Compare this with no of technical papers from Europe and America).
Some time it is hard to digest truth. Forget about the very past glory of wheel, fire etc. (ie 1000 year back situation when whites were running around half naked).

if anastrophe is referring to computers and not the internet. the first computer was colossus in the Bletchley Park listening station in england during WW2, not as IBM would have you believe, theirs. A friend of mine who is also originally from Scotland was educated in San Francisco. He used to send regular updates when he was at school about how bad the education was. Examples being, the UK being called england, being taught to memorise all the states in the union, but nobody in the class being able to point out Japan or Europe on a map, a teacher actually telling a class the americans won in vietnam because they didn't lose (i can't figure that one either!) and being told in a history class that D-Day was carried out entirely by US forces. If kids are being taught this, is it any wonder they believe they invented everything?

Wait, Americans 'invented' electricity? Wow, I thought that was naturally occurring phenomenon. Here's your free pass into the 25% club. (In case you're an American, that's a reference to the '1/4 of all Americans are idiots' statement.)
