Who says there is no life after death!
It really can't be proved.
We don't know, for a fact, that an atom is not alive.
One day some one may prove that Atomic Behavior resembles Animal Behavior and all of a sudden you'll have a PETA for Atoms.
Some people think Atoms may be little tiny solar systems with little tiny people on them (maybe that's what Quarks are, eh).
You are made up of atoms, the rules of the universe say mass is conserved. You decompose into chemicals.
Scientists say those chemicals are what caused life to form.
It's what's science calls the Life Cycle
Leaves fall and die, become mulch which nurishes the trees and puts nitrogen back into the soil.
Just because we don't know something is true, doesn't make it untrue.
And Zen Buddists think you become nothing after death. They think you are nothing in life. Just a bunch of tightly packed atoms.
Which is exactly what you are. The amount of protons, neutrons and electrons in your body can be identical to a slab of concrete in quanitity.

What religions have you looked into? Did you do some in depth study, ask questions, listen, read? If not, you might be selling religion and yourself short. I can only speak for Christianity and little about other beliefs. Yes, it takes faith to believe. Why don't you feel there is life after death? I hope this present life is as good as it gets. What do you have to loose by believing there is life after death? If you are right (NO life after death) and I'm wrong (there IS life after death) then when we die absolutely nothing happens other than turning to dust. But- If I'm right ( is life after death) and you're wrong(no life after death) when we die I'd go to an eternal life of good. You'd go to an eternal life of ???? or nothing at all. Which option is better? This may be a poor way of looking at religion but that doesn't make it untrue. Be good to yourself. Learn. Trust. Look into Christianity. See how and why eternal life is possible. Find out for yourself. What do you have to loose?

There's lots of religions in the world that most people in the Western world have no knowledge of, so how can you say that every single one believes the same things? Also, there are belief systems that most of the world is aware of that do not focus solely on the afterlife.
Religion was created because people needed an explanation for what happens when one dies. They were afraid of the unknown.

Actually, it makes perfectly logical sense. Religions were founded by, with all due respect, idiots -- compared to what we know now. Up until recently, no one could explain the near-death phenomenon. Imagine how it must have seemed to someone who had absolutely no scientific knowledge at all, the feeling of being with loved ones again, the feeling that something continued after death. And it's entirely possible that with the right care, someone who might have otherwise finished dying after their NDE would have survived it and told others of what they experienced. As medical technology improves, reports of NDEs increase. Coincidence? I think not -- it's nothing more than people recalling their brains shutting down, as if one went to reboot the computer but cancelled the reboot halfway through.

Funny, looking around and opening my eyes is what caused me to believe in God. You don't WANT to believe in God or you wouldn't have worded your question this way.
What happens to the energy pulses of your thoughts once they can no longer flit across the synapses of your brain? energy can't just end without effecting something else. That's a start to a leap of faith if you truly want to believe.

Well, what else would a religion be concerned with? This life is so short and eternity is a lot longer.
Truthfully, not all religions believe in life after death.

I can see you have never had any kind of the SUPER NATURAL happing in your life.
Its not faith, its knowing. Like you think you know there is no such thing.
I do not have to explain anything to you, of what I feel or felt when I died on a operation table, and lived. I can not tell you how I felt when I Ode< and was in the Spirit going to hell, flames burring me, I was awake, and knew everything about what was going on. And hear God voice deep inside me, and my hair stood up, and fingernails burned, and eyes were in the flame. And hear the words
'I SPOKE THE WORLD INTO EXISTANCE IN JUST ONE WORD, AND I CAN SPEAKE YOU OUT OF IT.
Oh yaw,,,
It was then I started reading the word of God, and finding scripture he gave me due to I never read the word of God before in my life.
God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the three most important SUPER NATURAL beings in my life.
Its not faith, its a way of life to me.
I do not choose to make you believe, I do know, there is a place on fire for those who do not believe. I should be there, but now I know the truth, and the truth set me free from what Satan calls the black hole,
he has you there, you will never get out, cause you chose to stay there, and not find out for yourself, is there, could there be.
Make sure your heart beats tonight, listen to each beat, listen to your breath, feel your life, God did that,
when your into yourself, ask your heart, does God love me?
Jesus are you real,
I wonder,,,
I just wonder,,,
If you would get the truth, and get out of your dark hole.

Islam is about life and death.
"Rabbana aatina fiduniya hasanatun wal fil akhirati hasanatun..." is a common prayer of the Muslims that means:
"O My Lord, I seek that which is good of this life and that which is good in the hereafter...."
Life first. Hereafter later.
This life is preparation for the hereafter.
stay off the ganja and this won't seem amusing to you anymore.
and you need braces if you keep laughing this much all the time.

Many known religions & worships agree that Human comprises of not only flesh and blood, but also 'soul', which in essence separates us from other creations, e.g. animals & plants. And they concern about where the 'soul' goes after the flesh dies. Thus each religion gives sets of guidance, rules, doctrines etc. to help you prepare / book yourself a better place for your soul to go once the mortal part of yours fail.
