At my college Microsoft had a special price for students. You pay it on a credit card for $15 they give you an install disk and you had to return it within 5 days. If you didn't they charged full price for the software. If your system crashed or you needed to reinstall you went through the same process again. They also had a great price if you decided on a real purchase.

If you know someone who works for Microsoft, they are allowed to buy any software title for 10% of retail price. You have to register serial number at time of purchase and you can't resell the software. If your serial number is registered by someone else they will fire the employee who purchased it.

A student/teacher version of MSOffice is widely available (I just saw it at Staples) for 150 dollars. A better choice is that for free you can download the very, very good openoffice program (at openoffice.org) which is just like office. The free Thunderbird email program is also great. At google you can also use a free online program just like word and excel. All the programs I have mentioned function wonderfully, and they will read Microsoft documents and save as microsoft documents, and they help you to avoid the hassle of microsoft (they will annoy you endlessly when you try to reinstall your program and they force you to call or connect to them to use a product after charging you hundreds of dollars).

Well, when you download an illegal version from a stupid p2p site and get a virus or trojan at the same time with the download, you'll be paying out hundreds of dollars to get your computer fixed. Why would you allow a stranger's file to get into your computer?

Either buy a legal copy or use http://www.openoffice.org/ as an alternative.

BitTorrent. First you need a client though which can be obtained by searching "Azureus" on Yahoo. Then once it's installed, go downlad the torrent for Microsoft Word from www.demonoid.com or www.torrentportal.com. Then when you've downloaded it, the icon should be a blue frog, now open and choose the directory you want to download it into.

Well, other than pirating a copy from a buddy, which is not something I encourage...You can get it fairly inexpensive if you happen to be a college student. Alot of universities offer great deals on mircrosoft office to students. Good luck!

go to www.bittorrent.com and become a member by downloading their bittorrent client program. Then you can look up the program, download it, and process it through your client program. In no time you will have a working version of Microsoft Word and possibly all of Office.

I was looking for the same thing about a week ago, and that's where i got mine for free.
