I've had Windows XP Pro for a few years now. I've had Microsoft Office installed at the time that I installed Pro. I went through and did the code with the key and stuff, but I don't have the disk anymore, so it's looking for where to install Excel from. Thing is, the rest of my office products work just fine. Any ideas or suggestions as to what the problem may be and/or how to fix this? If more info is needed, please say so in your answer and what you need, and I will add the info asap. Thanks!

Pushing cancel reverts it back to the state it was in. Under a different profile on my computer (now deleted), that worked and the program would open like normal. However, doing so now has the effect of cancelling the install.

i'm currently the only user on this computer. I bought it new, and have added and deleted profiles before, and so I don't see how that would make an issue this time. As for the location, I stated that I don't have the disk, so that option is out of the question. I'll soon try the restore, but off hand i think i disabled that feature...

what happens if you push cancel ? does excel starts ?

OK i see... when you install office, to finalize the installation you have to run all applications in all users. You probably didn't with excel under this user .

you can try to copy application data from a different profile that works.

If you have friends maybe they can help you with an Office CD ? The only requirement is for them to have the same version (aka 97, 2000, XP, 2003) everybody has one! even a backup of an original CD will work.

in the mean time go here http://docs.google.com/ and enjoy a free spreadsheet application from google.

if possible i would restore you computer to the point before deleting your profile. The information is stored in application data file folder.
Get the CD and when you install in the future, use the custom feature. Go through the options to install all features, and don't worry about the saving space feature. make sure you have all white boxes and no red "X" on the features you want installed.

Well Try Opening Excel!
It will take you do a screen which will tell you to look for a file and you can browse to the place where Office is installed!
Try this and let me know!
