Jack Chick is notoriously cruel.

Not only does he display his bigotry against Catholics, Muslims, homosexuals, and freethinkers, but he concocts ridiculous stories such as this to try to get his point across.

Usually, his tracts about Dungeons & Dragons are more laughable than accurate. He claims that, "Back in 1986, a fellow appeared on The 700 Club who was a former employee and game writer for TSR. He testified right on the show that he got into a wrangle with the management there because he saw that the rituals were too authentic and could be dangerous." I decided to follow up with the 700 Club, and they denied having such a guest.

I don't know about all of the details about the Shriners, but I bet Jack Chick has as much truth in that story as his story about Dungeons & Dragons--a complete fabrication to encourage people to buy his tracts.

Jack Chick is a con artist, no better than John Edwards.

Yes, it is sick, and it's wrong to give someone this when a child has attempted suicide. It IS blaming the parents, for sure. I don't think you're overreacting.

The problem is, my mom was an Eastern Star.....way back in the 70's when I was just a baby....does that mean I'm going to try to kill myself now too?

I know I shouldn't joke about that, but I can't help it...it amazes me that ANYONE would write that kind of junk and be serious about it.

I clicked the link and read the tract and I got the impression it was blaming the attempted suicide on the involvement with witchcraft and masonic. It shows the mother questioning herself but what parent wouldn't do this if in the same situation.

I think sometimes we are too quick to judge why certain situations happen and sometimes we will never know the answers until we meet Jesus ourselves.

Gee thanks....I feel stupider for having read that. Did you notice that they never show the parents visiting their son? And that the son is being punished for what the parents did?
My mom used to give me something similiar to read when I was a kid; scared the hell out of me. I should think that playing on people's emotions like that would be beneath anyone....but apparently not.

If the parents have brought Satanic influence into their home, there's no one else to blame. Well, Satan, but he could care less.

I think you could be overreacting to the message of the tract though. It's not so much about the suicide, as it is enlightening Masonry.

All the chick tracts are the work of a hateful idiot. This one is particularly amuzing though, because it disses Osiris, which is the main character (other than Horus/Jesus) in the raising of Lazarus (el-Osiris) from the dead. That story originates in well documented pyramid texts that predate Christianity by more than 1000 years.

Jesus = Horus.

Valko,
No. I don't think that it was cruel. I've seen God work through someone before. The guy doing the witnessing cleaned house, and then the blessings fell to the family. The suicidal son didn't die, and there was an inference that he also was saved, no longer under the demise of a cult.

It was one of the good ones by Chick.
