My duaghter has gotten tested with the scratch test for some food that she has had a reaction to only in the diaper area though. She is allergic to milk, soy, eggs, and peanuts. I think all of these have gotten better and might not be allergic to some of these things anymore but am not sure. If there are allergic to something barley what can they have as a reaction to happen? Would it just be a rash still maybe in a diaper area or could it be a upset stomach? I am just trying to figure it out because i think i might try to introduce some of the stuff one at a time and see how she does but also want to know what to look for if she still is allergic. thanks

Well the other reason i was asking is because yesterday i let papa watch her and he gave her a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but no rash or anything has shown yet. She also hasn't popped yet either.

My daughter is also allergic to eggs and nuts. We didn't let her have any eggs for her first 5 years of life. She also had the skin prick test as a toddler. At age 4, the doctor did a blood test to see if she was still allergic to those things--she was. Like your child, a reaction (rash) appeared only in one spot--in the crook of her arm. At age 5, it looked like she could tolerate egg so we did an oral challenge in the doctor's office. We brought cooked egg from home and gave her a teaspoon full every half hour under the doc's supervision. Unfortunately, she started to get a rash again. At age 5, we did another blood test--it still wasn't where it should be. At age 6, the levels were better so he suggested we give her things with egg as long as egg was listed as one of the last ingredients. She's able to tolerate some cookies and cupcakes with no reaction now. The doctor said never to try things out on a child to see if she is no longer allergic. Better to do the blood test since it can tell you w/o risking your child's life. I was ok trying the egg but the nuts are still a big issue. Her reaction has sent us to the hospital twice so I'm very happy to just eliminate nuts from her diet for now. Be patient. Kids outgrow many allergies but I know it's such a pain to go out to restaurants, attend parties, etc. Also, upset stomach and diarrhea are from food intolerances not allergies.

It could be alot worse than a rash, I would not give her any of those if they say she is allergic, Right now she could be building it up to something bigger than just the rash. So don't give her any of those until you have another test done. What to look for is swelling or hard breathing like she can't breathe, hives, rashes. I strongly suggest that you don't give it to her because if you do you might end up rushing her to the hospital or alot worse she may not be around.

I would do one every couple of weeks. Check for skin rashes, changes in bowel function, changes in breathing and any signs of excess mucus (stuffy, runny nose). You should wait on the peanuts for a year or so though, because that allergy is often life threatening!

Also keep an eye out for behavior changes. If a child can't tell you their exact feelings, they may act out.

My son is extremely allergic to eggs, milk, almonds, and dogs. He braks out in a rash, ahs stomach problems, and sometimes he has trouble breathing. My best advice (the same advice our doc told us) is to get your child retested. It's definately worth it. We thought our son was over the milk allergy so we went ahead and let him have a couple bites of icecream....within hours he was doubled over in pain & crying that his stomach hurt. Needless to say we were up all night trying to comfort him and we haven't touched any milk products since.

usually if a child is allergic you can tell by the rash and not just by the diaper area.my son was allergic to milk and all and couldn't have eggs and things til he was older he is now four and his immune system changed and he can have a little milk with out breaking out...my suggestions is just be careful and see what the allergist recommends .......my son seems to be doing better with things now

Food allergies are very serious, she could go int antafalactic shock, this is swelling of the airway and can cause brain damage and death. Do not mess around with a food related allergy, use your Doctors advice!!!
