Sounds like either an IAC (Idle Air Control) problem or possibly a bad brake booster. If you press the brakes and you have a bad booster, you could be causing a vacuum leak which would explain why the RPMs go up when you apply the brakes. Normally replacing the booster will solve this (if it is leaking).
As far as the IAC, it could be sticking, dirty, have a bad or loose connection. Sometimes they just go bad. I would check for a vacuum leak elsewhere just to be sure but if that was the case it would idle faster (or rough) all the time.
Good Luck

take the truck and put it in neutral before you come to a stop. if it doesn't lurch, but engine idle accelerates, then it might be the idle air solenoid. it could be is a dragging clutch caused by the clutch slave or clutch master cylinders going bad

you have experience in driving a straight drive. when you come to a stop you mash the clutch in hold it in and the motor should idle down. whats happening is . you either have the clutch not engaged all the way or your clutch is worn out. does it slip going down the road.
