Hey,

I have been told in the past that there were some references in other holy books to what people believed to be the lord buddha. Does anyone know about this or have any quotes? Thanks

Additional numerous historical figures may have been prophets, but this is a source of debate and contention, among them: Zoroaster, Gautama Buddha and Ram. However, Muslims will state that there is no way of knowing for sure since they are not mentioned by name in the Qur'an. An argument often used in support of the prophethood of such men is that they came with the word of God, but it was later corrupted, this accounting for the differences between Islam, and the respective religions with which each man is associated. The Hadith and Qur’an support such claims that say that a messenger was sent to every people.
I beliveve that Buddha is a prophet of God. His teaching are compatiable with Islam and contain so much clear truth that I believe his teaching can have only been inspried by God. He didn't keep writing but was oral, so we don't fully have all his of teachings. He rejected the worshiping of idols and numerous gods in the particular branch of Hinduism that practiced it.

[16:36] We have sent a messenger to every community, saying, "You shall worship GOD, and avoid idolatry." Subsequently, some were guided by GOD, while others were committed to straying. Roam the earth and note the consequences for the rejectors.
