Onions and garlic are the best 2 things you can choose to put in all sorts of food according to me anyway if it were my choice. If i had to choose i would choose onions thogh because i use it in majority of my cooking. it can go along with all diff types of foods like soups roasts pasta pizza ect

Onions are by far more versatile. You can saute them, fry them, boil them, or just cook them in any variety of food you choose. It is an essential ingredient in almost ever recipe I know. Even when you don't like the texture of them, or the taste, the flavor has to be there to round out the taste of the recipe.
Garlic, I love, and include, in many receipes that don't include it, but, it's an additive, not a necessity. It adds wonderful flavor, but ya just don't have to have it.

I prefer garlic, apparently its ment to be good for your skin, I am not a fan of onion (it makes me cry).

Onions, they actually get SWEET when grilled or pan seared...and they don't make you burp them back up for hours or make your sweat smell like garlic!
