People can be really funny about things they don't understand. Unfortunately mental illnesses are a big one of these. All I can suggest is this girl is a bit more careful about when she chooses to tell people about her bipolar. It's really healthy to be able to talk to people and be real about what she has but she also needs to protect herself by choosing when to talk about it.

To make her feel better you can only keep letting her know that she is not defined by her bipolar and help her value herself more as a person and the bipolar being part of who she is. It's tough but with support she can get there.

By looking out for one another we can make the world a better place.

Just BE her friend.
Try as hard as you can not to be shocked by behavior/mood changes. Bipolar Disorder can turn the most loving person into a raging maniac as it affects the area of the brain which regulates emotion. Because of that, try not to judge impulsive things she may say or do. She may not be able to help herself in the moment. Also, when her mood swings very low, she may become quite anti-social, may isolate and/or sleep for long stretches (sometimes days).
Being a friend and really hanging in there beside her can be a really, really hard thing to take on but I would bet that the folks who suffer from this tragic, life-changing, disabling illness could use true friends more than anyone else I can think of.

Bipolar disorder is a very debiliteing and depressing mental disorder It is also known as manic depressive disorder. Manic meaning very happy very active life of the party. Depressive meaning depressed sleeping a lot not able to complete everyday task. It is caused by a chemical in balance in the brain. this imbalance can be an heriditary thing or it can be the result of a head trama. The best thing that you can do is just be her friend. Watch her and when you see her mood swing help her to get home and be sure she takes her meds. Do not expect her to be comfortable in large crowds for long periods of time let her know that you are her friend no matter what. don't act like she can just straighten up .She doesn't like the way she is but she can't always control what happens to her. Be patient, be kind and help her keep the peices of her life together so she feels safe .

Try to be a friend to her. There is nothing wrong with her you cant catch it. But some people i know that are bipolar seem to stay away from others. Sometimes they feel like crap and they don't want to have to say why. And others just think other people don't understand. Also when people with bipolar get treated like that they tend to just keep to them self's. Theres really nothing else you can do but be kind to her.

Omg bipolar is just a personality thing, your mood just changed very often. Soooo many people have bipolar, you dont even know. Most people in college have symptons of bipolar due to stress. And bipolar can be controlled with medication.

Does she take any medications? Bipolars have big downs. When they have those, it is hard to help them. Medications will stabilize your friend. Then she will be able to get help from you. She will be ready to rely on your friendship, and supported by it she will be able to carry on. Without proper medications, I don't know how you can make her feel better. Good Luck.

Bipolar disorder is not as bad as it seems try to talk to her and maybe be a friend. You WILL go through a lot of ups and downs but it is worth it.

a bipolar disorder is something that has to do with the way your blood cells are and you cant just make this kind of person feel better. it affects the way you feel and the way you act and maybe the parents are concerned for the people that are around her and dont want it to affect them in anyway of how she is.
