There are two different cultures in Canada, from french and english founders. Prople are friendly and many speak both languages. There are historical places like Halifax and Nova-Scotia where the Acadians were located before being deported to the english colonies of the times. Many ended up in New-Orleans and the Louisianna state, and some in Virginia, etc...
Quebec City was founded in 1608 by Samuel De Champlain.
It is a beautiful old city by the St-Laurent river. Montreal was founded by The Sieur De Maisonneuve in 1642 and called Ville-Marie at the time. It is situated on an island in the middle of the St-Laurent. There are ten provinces in Canada.
Toronto is also a large city by one lf the great lakes. American movie makers come there and other Canadian cities to produce movies because some areas look like Europe and the currency is worth less than the American money, therefore a good bargain for the producers.
Vancouver is west of the country and also has a lot going on.Victoria is one of the most beautiful cities in Canada. ( on an island too)
Banf and Lake Louise in Alberta are well known for winter sports.
One of the most known artists from Canada is Céline Dion.
Cirque Du Soleil is also famous.
To mention just a few. There is just about every ethnic groups and so far it is a peaceful country to live in.
WELCOME for a visit... ( when Montreal had Expo 67 ... AND THE 1976 Olympics). So many decided to stay.

1. Culture - we have many cultures here. Canada is extremely multi-cultural and each province/region has its own culture to boot. We have 2 official languages - but these are not limited to being 2 official cultures... We are this way because Canada is a very young country (compared to US and Europe), and we are made up primarily of 1st and 2nd generation immigrants from all over the world. I actually have one friend (only 1) that her family is 5 generations Canadian - That is rare!
2. The people are as varied as the land. Rough and rugged, warm and friendly. With the many immigrants - it is hard to describe a typical "Canadian". We have loads of famous people - Terry Fox, Pierre Trudeau, Margaret Atwood, Wayne Gretzky, David Suzuki, me.
3. Um...again with the immigrants. So much food - so little time.
4. Each city, province, region has its "famous" places to visit. http://www.canadatravel.ca/ My best practise for exploring when travelling is to ask the locals where they go, what they do. You can't find that kind of information on any website or brochure!

1. Very diverse throughout the country, due to the wide range of backgrounds - our multicultural makeup.
2. Also very diverse (see previous answer), and yet, in some areas, very narrow minded and shut in. Canada is a huge country, and there are so many different things going on here, from the Saskatchewan farmers to the Alberta riggers & cowboys to the Toronto business folk, to the West Coast - well, I don't really know how to classify anybody. In very general terms (and I have learned this mostly from out-of-country tourists), we are very "nice" (though I have certainly met my share of @**hole*). Too bad about our so called Leader.
In short: Canadian people and culture vary greatly province to province.
3. Well, there is Famous Dane's soup kitchen in Rabbit Lake, SK (the south R.L.), but only the really cool people know about that ;)
Apparently poutine is our food of choice (all right, I love poutine, especially with feta cheese!), and if you go to an asian restaraunt, they always have a "Canadian Food" section in their menu, which geerally boasts burgers, fries, onion rings, chicken fingers. Blah. The truth is, Canadian food, like the rest of Canada, is made up of all the food that comes from all the places where all our people come from. And we tend to eat a lot of bread I think.
4. Our Rocky Mountians are a huge draw for tourists - Banff and Jasper are big stops, and through BC's interior. Also Niagra Falls. I am more interested in the "natural wonders", so I'll leave the telling of the towers and arenas to the others... Saskatchewan is the best kept secret in Canada, a big Woo Hoo for whoever put our inter-provincial highways through the flat and boring parts of the province. We (I) don't really feel the need to exploit our beautiful province and fill the trash cans up any faster...
