My husband joined in January of this year... He didn't even get his first paycheck until March... And it wasn't much... After that he made about $600 a month until June then He became an E-2 his pay is now $1,500 a month... We moved to Washington and it's very expensive... We live off base right now hoping that We'll get a house on base... Our housing allowance is only $1,038 a month... I know that may seem like alot but our rent for a dirty run down 2 bedroom apartment is $900 a month our utilities are about $300 a month and that's only water and electric... So we are still paying out of pocket for our utilities... And after paying all our personal bills and groceries we have no money left over... He get's paid on the first and fifteenth of every month... All his friends are single and they live in the dorms on base... They never seem to have money left over after they pay for their car payments and other personal bills... So I would say that you're probably gonna have the same advantage finding a civilian job as you would a military job money wise... You do however start making decent money the longer you saty in...But that's the same for any kind of job... You might be able to afford doing some things but that depends on how you spend your money and what personal bills you'll be paying for... Good Luck with what ever you do... My husband is Air force and he's deploying in Jan. of next year and so are almost all of his friends... So if you think that the airforce doesn't deploy you over to Iraq then think again... My hubby will be gone for 4 months and come back then be sent out again... So please think about that... All Branches of the military do deploy overseas.... We were told by his recruiter that the Air Force rarely deploys, He lied....

The pay is based on your rank and TIS(Time In Service). The best thing you can do is go to the Air Force Website and look at the pay chart. You will find that if you do not have a lot of bills to pay, you can live very well on the pay that is given. Don't ever expect to become rich off of it, but if you know how to manage your finances then you will be able to do the things you like with no problem.

Starting pay for an E-1 is about $1200 per month before taxes and other expenses (like the GI Bill). Consider that the military pays for your housing by giving you a room in the barracks and also pays for the utilities for this room...and consider that the military also feeds you (or gives you more than $200 per month for food tax free). Even when you account for these two items, you probably don't start out making the equivalent of $500/week. However, after about 2-3 years of service, it is likely you will take home the equivalent of more than $500 per week since base pay increases to about $1850 per month for an E-4 with 3 years of service...and either added to that or paid for in kind is housing and food (BAH and BAS...additonal tax free allowances that can be several hundred dollars per month).

Check the link below. The pay is decent, not the best in the world, but all right. Until you go to war. Then you are underpaid, in my opinion.
All the military branches pay the same, so if you're looking for money, the Army usually promotes the fastest. The Air Force is a little slower but you get better living arrangements. (i.e. more room to keep nice clothes/bring a friend over, etc)

500 bucks a wekk?!?! LMFAO!! no, you start at about 500-900 a MONTH depending on what rank you start as. And if you have no prior military experience, than you will start at the bottom no matter how skilled you are. but there are advantages to it. they pay for all your living expenses so the money is strictly for your leaisure, but if youre looking to make decent cash than the service is nowhere to start. if youre looking to become skilled in a trade for when you get out than the service may be a good option, if you cant afford education than the service is a good place to start. but for the people who are middle class and have more opportunities at thier fingertips. the service is not for you.

The military pay scale is avalible to the public, but I'm not exactly sure how to access it on the web. People in the military who have lower ranks don't make a whole lot of money, but that's made up for in other ways like free healthcare and on base housing. If you live on base the only bills you'll have are the ones you create for yourself (cable, internet, etc) so you'll be able to use you're money as you please.

If you are looking to make the "Big Bucks" you are barking up the wrong tree. You will do OK, but you will not be wealthy by any means. It's more about the job and fulfilling a duty than it is about the money.
Oh, and it don't matter which service you go into. The pay rates are the same.

that ought to volume to idiocy and an utter loss of understanding of ways company works. sure, I submit to in concepts having this argument with Untamed an 365 days in the past whilst she talked approximately as me a loser for asserting that's going to not be like the militia. out of your reaction in the different question : "each rank gets the comparable volume of funds no rely how lots or little you paintings. You get the comparable volume each month and 365 days in case you worked a 40 hour week or a ninety hour week. You upward thrust in rank by way of time and very not often by way of potential. clothing, food, housing, electrical energy, etc is all provided and paid for." it works for the militia and all of us comprehend it does. yet company would not paintings that way. company is a company with ROI aims and which potential companies additionally negotiate the pay that they are going to dole out to their workers. strengthen and pay hikes in company are consistent with overall performance. It would not bode properly for the agencies to stick their workers pay statements in the cafeteria wall. that ought to fail. Edit : I do comprehend the super distinction you communicate approximately, yet seems such as you probably did not examine my answer when you consider which you're in all probability disillusioned with my honesty. Civilian pay is effortless awareness. provide me a profile, and we are able to tell what their industry fee is, ordinarily, whether that's not precise. provided that the pay in a company relies upon on many factors and that it may additionally replicate an workers overall performance between different issues, i don't see the best judgment in the back of your asserting 'civilian pay being extra open and obtainable to the standard public'. upload that on your assertion "the militia is extremely open approximately how lots persons are turning out to be to be paid and who's getting what pay." yet of direction, you and your militia employed Feminist comrades would not agree, whether you recognize it. Edit : and of direction, you're saying 'civilian pay being extra open and obtainable to the standard public' and you later replace it to 'in basic terms the pay volume being obtainable to workers'. huge distinction there besides.
