I agree 100%, You have to have faith to believe in something. They worship and believe in themselves. They depend on science to strenghten their beliefs. They definitely practice it daily by degrading religion and encouraging those who believe as they do in this section 24/7. They have atheistic propaganda that they spew routinely like robots or trained assassins. It fascinating to watch how they bait believers on their hooks and immaturely post their comments behind a question to poke fun or scrutinize it. They need much prayer because they have this sick fixation on religion and its followers.

It is a shame that atheists go on message boards specifically not intended for them and deliberately try to provoke theists. However, my sympathy is limited as theists tend to do the same thing. Remember, however, that as the minority, atheists often have to defend their beliefs in a room full of religious people (I've definitely been there). So if we seem 'fervent' to you, it's only because we often have to deal with the religious majority in our everyday lives (Bush's evangelism, co-workers attempting a 'conversion', etc.). It constantly reminds us that we are not like everyone else. It is difficult at times. Try and understand.

I think you may be on to something. "Religion" comes from the Latin word that refers to the twine used to bind sheaves of grain together during harvest. The connotation is that religion is whatever ties your life together, your guiding principle. So, aetheism can be a "religion", just not an institutional one.
The "practice" of aetheists would be to defend themselves against the aggressive invasion of Christians who think their metaphysical delusions should permeate every facet of American life, for starters. Some may get frustrated and become rude about it but they really are concerned that this is some sort of spreading insanity that causes people to make very bad decisions, affecting everyone's quality of life. And since these "Christians" seem more interested in preaching the tenets of their faith than practicing them, the aetheists seem to be doing a better job of it, at least in this forum.

I think there are different sects of atheism, same as there are different sects of Christianity. There are the intelligent atheists, and there are the bitter atheists then there are the atheists who deliberately try to provoke theists, and there are atheists who beliitle and brow-beat theists using very mocking language and pretending that they are superior to believers and more intelligent than believers. There are atheists who try to lead believers away and go about deliberately thrashing at their beliefs all the time, you can nearly hear their teeth gnashing away.

If you are an atheist you believe in nothing more or less right? I don't think they have much of anything to practice really except their denial of God today. and l say today because at one time most all Christians were nonbelievers. Pray for everyone we all need it

Sigh....the definition of atheism is lack of belief in any deity. The definition of religion, in part, is belief in a deity. Therefore. Atheism can not be a religion.
As for why we are here, well, religion affects us even though we don't believe. We all know people who do believe. Many of the people who run our country believe. Many people who believe would gladly change the laws of our country to favor them and make life more difficult or uncomfortable for those who don't believe. So we come here both to discuss our theories with others and out of enlightened self interest--we need to know what others are attempting to force upon us.
As for being a hater of christianity....I despise all religions pretty much equally. I don't mean to play favorites; there just happen to be more christians on here (and they tend to be nastier and more mean spirited) than any other group, so they catch more flak. If you really don't like it, you don't have to read posts by people you know aren't christians. It is pretty easy to see who they are without a lot of effort.

That sounds about right..They will never admit it..They work hard on not believing in things that are Holy and Sacred..It all comes to they really want the proof to see what we can see..All they have to do is believe and a whole new world will come to them..They will be able to see just as we see..but they choose to turn thier heads and not try to see because of fear of the unknown..It is ok to believe in something so deeply but when you have turned it into hate, then who is being controlled then..

I suppose the do have a faith in that there is no God. It's quite difficult to do in this world, what with the real God constantly nagging at their heards how much he really loves them and trying to have them finally believe and repent. The way I noticed athiests counter that is through arguing, trying to spur themselves on with their "brilliance over christinans" Oh, well. Maybe someday.

Actually I'd say atheists have considerably less fear of the unknown than most believers, as they believe in that wonderful thing called science, so there is less unknown for them to be afraid of. Odd how frightened many religious people are of atheists. I wonder why.
