My mom had one and it seemed to work fine. But it is faster to defrost in water or the microwave. Plus, it can be unsafe to defrost things in the open, they can get bacteria and my moms always leaked down the sides causing raw meat juice to sit on the counter, which is very bad!! So keep that all in mind

Mine never did. It didn't seem to make much difference one way or the other in the length of time that it took to thaw meat. I got rid of mine after a few uses.

yes, my dad owns it,and i have no idea how it works, but i use it ALL the time when i'm at his house... eg; 2lbs. beef solid frozen: normally 6-8 hours to defrost, with the miracle thaw, 1.5 hours at most!!!!
