A lot of pepole with sore throats often need to have their tonsils and/or adenoids removed surgically. Check with an otolaryngologist (ear/nose/throat doctor). Try soothing foods to eat, like ice cream or something warm like warm tea or cocoa. I find a piece of hard candy or a cough drop helps mine. Allergies can also cause throat problems. If you think it's allergies (no other symptoms such as fever, etc.), might try taking a dose of Benadryl (or like product) and see if that helps. Hope this has been of some help and I hope you feel better soon.

Well, I agree with people who say you might need your tonsils out...

As far as sore throat/being sick. Well, I have hypothyroid. If I didn't have my medicine my throat would be incredibly sore. It still gets sore if I drink too much coffee/energy drinks. If I smoke too much (which is why a pack lasts me like 4 days...it's not a miracle).

I get sick every change of season and usually twice every winter. A sore throat is usually a part of that. One thing I do is try to expose myself to the elements as much as possible. Excercise too. If it's starting to get cold I embrace it. I go outside often and as it gets colder I adapt to it (I still dress appropriate). Same thing with the heat. I didn't use air conditioning in my car all summer. I keep the door open in the house.

A big factor is I take Echiniacea. It's something I started doing when I would get sick. Last time I was sick I didn't have it and I was sick for about 5 days more than I normally would have been. I had to get anti-biotics. I normally never go to the doctor.

Take a multi-vitamin every day. Drink OJ. Drink Soy milk. Take Echinacea. All of those things help me from being sick. I also start eating a lot of soup when it starts to get cold. That's pretty much my winter diet. Really hot soup. Temperature wise and spice wise. I like it when a soup will make me cry and have to blow my nose. Get some of that Korean red pepper ramen-type soup. It's called Shiin or something.

oh yeah, Ginger is pretty good too.

I used to get sore throats because I would drink too much dairy late at night and mucus would build up in my sinus cavities. It could be allergies too. Check your eating habits. Many things can cause sore throats such as drainage, bacterial infections or even could be caused by medication. If that doesn't help I think aspirins can work well if it isn't a serious problem. In none of those things help I would probably get a second opinion.

Why is your immune system so weak? you smoke? talk to the doc about you tonsils, they could be removed, but I wait for a healthy spell.
Antibiotics when taken too often can cause your immune system to become weakened. Stick with a healthy diet, exercise, drink plenty of water and stop taking the antibiotic. Only as a last result. Let your body do the healing. Also check into acid reflux disease. You may not feel the chest pain associated from it, but if you over eat and the acids go up, you can have a sore throat as a result.

You might want to go have a Monospot test done. I was having a similar problem in November. I kept getting a sore throat and kept going to the doc. I was tested 3 times for strep...then once without strep...when I got the last sore throat, I went to the doc again and requested a mono test. I was positive.

I used to have the same thing, I got sore throats very very often and the only thing that would take it away was antibiotic. I went to a otorhinolaryngologist (ear/nose/throat doctor) and they found out one of my nostrils was obstruded so during the night i tend to breathe through my mouth making my throat very dry and very prone to infections. They gave me a treatment to hel the dryness and it helped a lot. Also I recomend drinkng water before go to bed or having a ricola candy before bed. BUT the starting point is going to the doctor

Do you have a constant runny nose? If so that could be what's causing it, If I were you I would go and see a ENT doctor for a more through examination of your tonsils and nose. You might also have allergies that are causing you to have sinus problems and causing you to get minor sinus infections or cause sinus draining down the back of your throat and not even be aware of it. Go see a Ears, Nose and Throat specialist.

You are probably resistant to antibiotics by now, and you should ONLY take them for infections. You need to find a real doctor and get rid of the 'quack' who gives you antibiotics. You probably have post-nasal drip. At night, your sinus's drain into your throat and irritate the linings. You probably cough during the day too and maybe have a headache sometimes. Ditch the antibiotics. Ditch the quack. Take antihistamines at night, or get a doctor to give you Nasonex. Drink a lot of water during the day, and gargle with warm salt water whenever your throat hurts, and call me in the morning. ;|
