If you are Jewish - no problem. Christians must be careful about prosletysing and respecting the beliefs of locals. Attempts to convert, or showing disrespect to local religious laws may cause offence. Do not order milk in your coffee after a meal containing meat etc., do not try to convert the locals, do not travel on Yom Kippur, do not attempt to triviliase the holocaust, do not get into arguements about Israels need to defend itself, it is better not to visit West Bank sites or East Jerusalem unles syou are part of an organised group, dont joke about bombs esp. at the airport or you will find yourself in jail very quickly.

If that is all OK, you should have a great time. At the worst of the troubles the hot spots for suicide bombing were at open air markets, and public transport network in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Netanya. Religious sites are really not a target at all, English is spoken by many people so you could do also do it under your own steam, though it is probably easier with a group.

It's never safe to get out of your bed. As far as the Holy Lands, consult the Knights Templar.

But chances are that you will be like most pilgrims, and you shall survive and learn a lot.

Have a good time. Have faith. Faith is, after all, a big part of the Holy Lands.

It is relatively safe, there haven't been any terrorist attacks in Israel in a long time, but there are no guarantees.

I was there in '97 before all the current violence. Beautiful bizzare country. I didn't really see a lot of the religious sites, being an atheist and all, but it was interesting being in places I'd only ever heard of in bible stories.

Go before Iran nukes it.

Aren't a great many "holy" sites in Palestine?

If so , then going to Israel won't suffice, you'll have to enter palestine, if you have a dark tan you stand a good chance of being sniped out by the occupying forces.

If you go, don't run, dont look around, dont wear a backpack, dont' look islamic, don't look Jewish.

Or give up religion and start with a fresh, clean mind.

LOL!!! Sure, if you don't mind getting shot at, accidentally shot while Israelis shoot at Palestinians or leftover Lebanese, blown up while the Palestinians protest being bombed and shot at, or detained at various walls/fences around the country.

I think that the entire Holy Land should be relocated to Baja California. Disney could do some GREAT dioramas of all the best parts, and it would be a LOT safer than visitng the middle east.

No, son, it aint secure to visit israel. as a count number of truth even the former day there have been some riots in Jerusalem and the military had to apply rigidity to brake by ability of a few palestinians who were celebrating peacefully, accurate in the middle of Jerusalem. Get your self one in each and every of them Kevlar jackets before, in case you ever settle on to visit. the solid ones fee round $800.00 and they don't seem too heavy (~3,5lb) Have a astonishing time, son. metal
