Heinz, what makes you think I try to sway people to my religion? Just because you do doesn't mean I do, alright? It's highly forbidden to proselytize the Wiccan religion.

Yes, Papa Bear, I think it was rude of them.

I do think it's rude, especially if you believe a certain way and people know that you have beliefs other than theirs and still try to talk you into something you don't want.

Having faith is a fine thing. Everyone should believe in something. Yet its when supposed well-meaning folks keep hammering at you to stop living and believe the way you do that bugs the ever-loving sh!t out of me. How would they like it if I came up and tried to "save" them from their lifestyle? They wouldn't like it one bit!!!! Same here with mine. So I just leave well enough alone, and hope that most folks have enough respect for me to do the same.

I believe that everyone whether it be non-religious or religious is guilty of being "a little rude" as you said by imposing their views in this section. Let's be honest, there are millions of people who are looking at this now and are thinking about every person's answer or either a chance of questioning their own beliefs or non-beliefs not necessarily wanting to abandon but may change or see their beliefs differently than before because of someones opinions seems valid or not.

I won't try to get someone to abandon his religion. I will, however, try to get someone to think about his religion.

In some cases, people who think about their religion realize how silly it is and will convert to something else (or simply become an atheist).

In other cases, people who think about their religion find strength in that religion and live a more dedicated life.

In both cases, the people have used the brain given to them at birth, which grew into this great gray sponge. I don't care if someone abandons his religion or not. If he sticks with it or dumps it because he did some thinking, then I'm happy.

Ignorance is a frightening thing. I don't mind making people think about their religion. It's pointless to be a Christian, atheist, or Wiccan based on ignorance. At least have a reason for your beliefs!

So, you are saying that Jesus and the Apostles were rude, when they tried to draw people away from Judaism, and later from the religions of Rome, Greece, and all the other countries they preached house to house in?

Just as rude as trying to get someone INTO a certain religion. Ask that of all the millions of people that were content with their religions all over the world until missionaries came to tell them they were wrong.

Any religion consists of a set of beliefs that may be rational or irrational. All of us are trained to see the goodness of our religion and to ignore the irrationalities. As it comes to other religion the process reverses and we tend to see irrationalities in other religion. Trying to get someone abondon his religion is bad. Having discussions with him about irrationalites that exist in your religion and his religion is a good way to help yourself and the other person to have a good understanding of one's own religion

Don't you think it's a little rude to try to force someone to follow your religion?
Examples (just a few):
1. Posting religious writings in government institutions.
2. Teaching religious doctrine in public schools.
3. Oppose the teaching of established scientific theory because if contradicts religious beliefs.
4. Telling me I'm going to hell because I don't believe.
5. Telling me I'm condemning my child to hell because I don't take her to church.
On the other hand, I don't:
1. Tell other people what to believe.
2. Criticize people who believe differently from me (including telling them they will be tortured to death for not following my beliefs).
3. Oppose the teaching of religion IN IT'S PROPER VENUE.
4. Tell anyone how to raise their child.

So who is more rude? You tell me.

may be not rude but mostly just misunderstood zeal and a burning desire to spread the good news about God and Jesus

any christian - mind you, unfortunately there are probably many who are only christian by name - loves god and knows that God loves him and you too

its the best thing in the world to be loved by God and have his grace and compassion and a sure way to heaven

if you truly belive in this then you want to share it with as many people as possible ...

so forgive them, dont be judgemental and just start thinking and may be doubting your position of non belive and soften your heart ...

having faith is a conscious decision ... you have free will ... mae it = great, don't make it for whatever reason = not so great,

but we keep trying

god bless you

I think it's right to tell people how you believe, if they ask you. I don't call that trying to get people to abandon their religion. But if I haven't asked someone about their religion, why do they insist on telling me that I need to believe how they believe or I will be going to hell? That is worse, in my opinion.

Yes, of course. Just as it's rude to try to convert someone to your religion.
