Ironing can burn your hair & damge it very badly but there are procucts out now that protect your hair from heat. Heat from the iron can make it burn off or fall out if it's too hot but usually if it's on the right setting and heat protecting hair products are used... then there won't be a problem. Heat protecting products like TEXTURELINE's Hair mix Spiral Splendor, Supreme Smooth, Or even their hot style products Like hot curling iron fix, flat ironing creme, or volume mouse All heat styling products to protect your hair.

Using any kind of iron will damage your hair, however, there are ways to protect your hair. Your hair needs moisture, therfore you need to follow these steps.
1) Use a great shampoo and you MUST condition your hair ( I use Redken ALL-Soft on both, I'm very happy with the results, however, when I'm finished with the bottles, I will switch to PHYTO's brand line...expensive but great.
2) Plan on using a heavy deep treatment once a week. ( I use Redken Hevy Cream)
3) When you step out of shower, towel dry hair to around 75% and then use a thermal protecting spray (Chi iron 44, Sebastian Sharper Iron Tools..) followed by a good serum. (Redken has a Smooth down heat glide, TIGI Bed Head have Control Freak Serum...Paul Mitchel's Skinny Serum is great, but the best one is PHYTO's Relaxing balm...it is expensive however, $25 for a 3.3 oz bottle : (
4. Blow dry with a cool setting....
5. Use BioSilk Therapy on hair (it is heat activated so it acts as a great thermal protecter against ironing) (You can add a small hint of whatever protectant you used in step 3 before you apply the BioSilk Therapy for extra protection.)
6. Iron your hair, but do not be stingy...invest in a great straightener...there is a difference between them. What you want is one with a cermic plate...the most popular is the CHI, while they give great results, they tend to break too often however. The best straightener are the Sedu ones...they have Ceramic with Tourmaline (Precious stone that gives off negative Ions which is good for your hair). You can curl your hair with the 1". Solia, HAI, and FHI are also good but not as great but a little bit cheaper.
Or you can go with a pair of GHD's if you are willing to spend at least $190 on the 1"...
Once you are done using an iron, use a leave in conditoner especially at the ends...
Remember moisture is important, therfore, as long as you use moisturizing products before and after your iron, as well as protecting your hair along the way you should be fine. But do not use an iron everyday....3-4 times should be the max, if you follow those steps you should be fine. With the higher end irons like Sedu you can still have great hair results the day after so you shouldn't need to use it as much.
Whatever you do, make sure you use moisturizing products because flat/curling irons dry out hair, however, by using the right products, you can strengthen and make your hair healthier.

Staightening your hair dries it out unnaturally, and burns it partly. It weakens your hair so as that it rather is greater brittle, and it additionally will improve frizz whilst your hair is un-straightened. shielding spray might help in some techniques, even with the undeniable fact that it won't be able to adress all issues stemming from straightening. in the adventure that your hair is falling out on the linked fee of a few strands an afternoon, it rather is easily popular, that's the follicle being replaced, even with the undeniable fact that, as much as twenty strands is unquestionably a unfavourable sign.

I don't think so as long as you use conditioner and put something to protect your hair before and after straightening or curling!

It damages it and weakens your hair if you do it a lot. It also dries it out if you don't Condition long enough. I use to do it everyday for a year. I had to leave on the conditioner fpr about 5 to 10 minutes. If you have your hair dyed too it dries it out even more. Don't do it often. If you do leave the conditioner on for a long period of time.

No, but it does weaken and dry it out. Try not to do it everyday or when your hair is still damp. Condition well in between and if you dye your hair make sure a professional does it. Au natural is back in - let your hair do it's thing!

it makes it weaker & more prone to breakage. use a protective product before using & try a ceramic straight iron with a curved edge (with practice you can use this for culing & straightening + it is so much better for your hair).

Yes, eventually.
If you iron it or dye it enough, the heat and chemicals permanently damage your hair... it can fall out. ALL OF IT.
