Tap the side of the lid on the counter. Then run some hot water over it and keep tyring to open it with a towel under your hand.

First, run hot water over it to loosen up any hardened sauce around the edges of the lid. Then, take a sharp knife or beer can opener and punch a hole in the lid.

The hole breaks the vaccum seal and usually makes the jar a lot easier to open. You can't reuse the jar to store leftover sauce in, of course, but between the two things, the lid ought to come off fairly easily.

(This method works for those miserably uncooperative pickle or olive jars, too. Just store the leftovers in another container with a lid.)

Heat some water in a container in the microwave until fairly hot, not boiling or it could be dangerous. Now place the jar lid first and let it sit there for 2 minutes. Then Take a towel...careful it's very hot and remove it. If you still cannot remove it; take it to a neighbor who has muscles. Good luck.

I do a number of things, many times all three - first tap it with a spoon or back of a knife along the edge of the lid, then run it under hot water, then use a towel to twist it off.

You can tap the side of the lid on the counter, being careful not to break it, or you can tap it with a butter knife around the edge. They also have these real thin pieces of rubbery type slabs sometimes companies use them for promotions, but I'm sure could buy them at the grocery store or Walmart.

My mom taught me to use a spoon...first try the end and stick it between the lid and the jar and twist it and the seal should pop. If not, use the spoon end and try the same thing. It always works for me!

Tie an elastic band around the lid. believe me it works.. something to do with the friction.. or use an anti grip rubber base sheet wrapped around the lid. And open the jar with It on top!!

You need to break the vacuum seal. Take a spoon or knife, place it between the lid and jar, push down on the spoon or knife to allow the air to escape. Voila! Dinner is served!
