Dear Mom,
Contact your local police department. What is happening to your daughter is considered a crime in most states.
Many states Indiana included have special divisions that deal with this problem.
If you are able print out the IM now so you have a record of it for them to have.
Good Luck. Be glad you daughter told you

Save any emails he sent. Yes the email address can be spoofed but most juveniles do not know how to do this. You can also do a "screen shot" if his photo or video is on the computer screen. You can do a screen shot by holding down "Ctrl" (the control key) and Prt Scrn (Print Screen). After holding them both down go to the start menu and open up a program called paint. Click on edit and you will see an option for paste. If will then paste what you were seeing when you pressed the keys. You can then save that in paint and either print it out for police or show it to them.

Contact your local law enforcement and if they can't help you they might be able to put you in touch with someone who can. What County do you reside in? If your locals can't help you the County or State probably could. They can serve a prosecutorial subpoena on the service provider and find out who the IP (internet protocol) address comes back to, the IP is equal to the address on your house but it is inside your computer. WIth enough legal documentation you can hit the bad guy with solicitation of a minor for immoral purposes....some places that is not a big deal. It is the fact that he USES the computer to commit that which makes it a felony, punishable by years in prison. These are Michigan laws and could be different depending on your jurisdiction.

Most local police departments do not know what to do with these kinds of cases. If this person does not live in your state, they have committed a felony using interstate commerce and the federal government can and will use its jurisdiction to prosecute. Your first step should be to contact your state's attorney general's office. You can even send them an email. Be very detailed as to what happend including time and date. Save all material. A DA will contact you and start an investigation. If it went across state lines, your state DA will do all the work for you in contacting other authorities. Good for you for taking action.

despite what other people say. It is very easy to track IM accounts. AOL keeps a record of the IP address and email. This sicko must have used a home computer at least once. If they used a library or other public access, they may be untraceable, but few people do that sort of thing.

Keep copies of the messages.... call the police... etc. If he e mails the same perverted crap and is over 18, maybe he can be put in prison.... but, make sure your daughter didn't get the same way with him.

You should get more...anyone can get a fake e-mail address....take the place of your daughter and "flirt" with him...try to get his address or phone number....try to get him to meet somewhere....from there you can call the police....even if he gives u a name....anyone can make up a name.....if you can get him to meet "your daughter" at a location then you can call the police and tell them that a person who has been sexually exploiting your daughter or something is gonna be at this location.

Well, now, that's disturbing. If you thought ahead, you could've saved the transcripts as proof of what they said and did and you could've reported it to the police. Without the proof, they might be able to find it on the computer, but I don't know, it might not get far without proof, that's what's everything in this world is based off of.

Tell your daughter not to play on the Internet unless you are monitoring her usage. Block his screen name ... you can't do anything about freedom of speech. Parents need to start taking responsibility.

Comprende?

get the person's screen name, document the messages - i.e. save the messages, or copy and paste them into word and print them. Take them down to your local police department and tell them what is going on, they will most likely refer you to the sex crimes unit.

There is really not much you can do. IM names can be created using fake email address and from public IPs that won't be easily traced. I would just block the name and move on.
