I was eating dinner at this guy's house and then he asked me:"if I would eat a baby's placenta?
I nearly threw up, and stopped eating my meal. I said "no. you are sick." It's not something to talk about at dinner time." He mentioned a few more times and wouldn't stop, and haggled me about it.
Is he mentally ill, sick, or in a cult?
He says they are good because they can prolong your life.
URGGGGGH. This makes me ill..

Gross. Only an animal would eat that. Something about it having vitamins. Tell the guy to eat liver and onions instead. Ugh. That is disgusting. I hope I don't eat dinner with that guy.

Hi - I remember in the 60s people ate placentas after the birth of their child - it had to do with hormones and such. As to eating them now - well, it is one of the only free sources of meat without killing - so some people like that - but it is an organ and does all kinds of nasty filtering stuff that I personally wouldn't want to put into my body. Sounds like he was trying to yank your chain. Next time tell him you prefer to stick to three day old road kill and see if that shuts him up!

Some cultures do this. Even in America you can have the placenta freeze dried and they make it into a powder you can take in pill form to supposedly speed up your recovery after having a baby.

Some people do this, they save it and cook it. Almost all animals do it. It won't prolong your life any more than any other protein. Unless maybe you ate it raw and ingested the stem cells, but that's sick!!!
LOL
Here are some links to placenta cooking:

It is truly disgusting, isn't it?! I was watching Shock Video on HBO and some woman and her family cooked up her placenta and ate it. I forget the "reason" why, but I was appalled. The whole act of it is ridiculous!!!
