The cost for a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Aiport to downtown should not be more than 400 baht including tolls, if you take one of the taxi meter cabs and avoid the touts that will pester you the moment you set foot in the arrivals hall. Just walk straight outside and pick up a cab. There is a 50 baht surchange for airport-pick up and the tolls are 60 baht. It does depend on what time of day you arrive though. I got back into town last night and it was only 280 baht for a trip to the other side of the city. I hope this helps.

If you use an airport 'limousine', the cost will be 800 Baht. If you use a regular taxi from Arrivals, the cost will be 50 Baht airport surcharge, meter charge of 160 Baht and a motorway charge of 40 Baht. This is a total of 250 Baht. If you use a regular taxi from Departures, the cost will be 200 Baht as there will be no airport surcharge. The time will depend on the time of day. At 4 am, it will take you 30 minutes. In the evening rush hour, it could take 1 and a half hours.

$12-14 US dollars plus 3-4 dollars in tolls. Be sure you get a metered cap and confirm that the driver will use the meter and you will pay the meter charges.
