Shea Butter. Beeswax holds to much dirt and it's really thick.

Beeswax at first, perhaps the first 6 mos to one year. Then you move on to something lighter once the hair trains itself to lock. Beeswax will be too heavy after that, and can make your hair fall out. Depends though, if you are black or white. If you are black, don't use the Beeswax for more than 12 months....

dreads only stink if you completely neglect them. you should wash your hair at least once or twice a week and dont use any shampoo that says smoothening, de-tangeling, or any conditioners. you can go swimming with dreads, just use a towel to soak up the excess water afterwards. dont brush through them (they will come out) and just make sure that you keep the clean and dont over wash. use a resedue free shampoo made for dreads.

ive only ever heard of bees wax and this is good as it holds the hair together pretty good, u could also try dax wax as this is very strong and its not water soluble so it doesnt wash out easy
