Look at its personality.. what he likes..
Doe she carry around a fave red ball and cant be without it..name him Red.. stuff like that
OR break out the Babyname sites and look for a name that has a meaning that fits your baby..
Working with wildlife Ive names thousands of animals... some normal names and some real odd ones.. even name a goose
PLOP oncec because as a gosling all it ever wanted to do was PLOP in the grass.. it would eat then plop then walk a few feet and plop and so on... so he was named PLOP..
His father was named Sebastian.. so normal and not so normal..
Who says a dog has to have a dog name anyway??
Good Luck

How to name your pup
Just got a pup? You must start calling him by his name, so as to ensure he associates himself with that word, as soon as possible. But if you can’t think of a unique and catchy name, don’t fret. Here are a few tips to help you decide an apt name for your new companion.
First and foremost, choose a suitable name. For example, calling a male, ferocious, German Shepherd, Bozo may not feel right. Similarly calling a female French Poodle, a masculine name will not look right either. Also remember that whatever name you select, you may have to call that loudly in a crowd as well. If you’ll be uncomfortable doing that, think of some other name.

Hündisch is german for canine. I had a friend a few years ago that named his that and most people that met the dog thought it was a pretty cool name. Or you could just try a simple common surname like Jorg or Fritz.

The best way to name a new pet is to either wait to see how he/she acts and name her/him based on his/her personalality or by the color(s) it is. You can also use the size of the animal to name it too. Or you can name it after a favorite TV show, movie, person, clothing item,a family name, or basically anything favorite that you have good luck.

Since Bali is part of your user name, how about Java?
When calling your dog, the nickname usually ends up being one syllable, so worth considering that, too.
BlackJack -- Jax for the short version

Clarence is a good dog name. Clarence was an angel in "It's a Wonderful Life," and he was a good egg. I bet your dog is a good egg, too. Clarence had some special abilities, as I'm sure you dog does. Therefore, Clarence is the best logical choice because dogs they are really angels in disguise.

need more details, but I think that the first answerer is right; in some cultures even kids dont receive names until 3-4 years of age.
