If you have to chose one of those two cars then I recommend Ford Probe. It would be more reliable than the Trans Am. The four cylinders Probe is a Mazda built engine. It would be more reliable and more fuel efficient than the Trans Am.
For $2000 also consider looking into the following vehicles:
-Honda Accord Coupe
-Honda Civic
-Mitsubishi Eclipse
-Ford Focus
-Ford Mustang
-Toyota Celica

Good luck

Whatever you do skip the Ford Probe. My brother who is a mechanic says that Ford stands for ...

Fix
Or
Repair
Daily

Honda and Toyota both are good cars and last forever. They also get good mileage. But my son who is a "Car Head" says the Trans Am is could be beefed up pretty good if you're into that kind of car. He says there are a lot of them that are fixed up to run 9 second quarter miles.

Shop Carefully....Good Luck !

I drive a Corvette & had a Camaro SS before that - so I'm supposed to be loyal to GM & say get the Trans Am. But if you aren't a mechanic & don't have plenty to spend on repairs - get the newer, duller Probe....after you had it inspected.

I would be patient to get the most bang for your buck, if you get in a hurry you'll definately find somthing way better a short time after, always happens like that

You can see cars in your price range by checking out www.autotrader.com. or www.cartrader.com. If you want specific information about reliability of specific models of used cars try going to www.jdpower.com/autos/ or www.edmunds.com Do your homework and you can minimize the chance of buying someone else's "problem". Good luck.

Why anyone would buy a car named "probe" is beyond me. I'd say save up more and buy somthing that isnt gonna break down in 2 weeks.
