i would love one, me and my husband have one already, and were thinking about getting another, it would depend though on where you lived, i dont beleive in shipping animals also do you have a picture of her? or if you find its too difficult to give her or sell her to someone online, you can try looking up dachshund rescue groups in your area and they will foster her until she can be place in a home, i also know a breeder in sc that would probably take her i live in sc, e-mail me i would be willing to drive depending on the distance, to a public place to pick her up, mines's name is Slinky i live in sumter e-mail shana_moonchild_dragoon@yahoo.com

Have you already bought it? If not then leave it so someone else can buy it. If you already have it then put an ad in your local paper. I wouldn't recommend taking it to the SPCA because they do euthanize animals. I don't see this dog as a candidate for extermination because in my area everyone wants a Dausch Hound. I still wouldn't take it there because of the high in take of strays that go into a shelter. All forms of germs and disease are in shelters and I wouldn't want the animal to get sick. If you do not like the idea of running an ad then go down to your local shopping center and tell people that the dog is free for a good home. You don't really know who you are giving it to unless you get their name and address and phone number to check on how they are caring for the animal. You may also wish to give them your phone number just in case they don't want it so it doesn't end up going to the animal shelter. I just thought of something else. At the shelter that I manage we have a wish list. People come into the shelter and ask for toy or small breeds all of the time. You could go in there and ask them if they know of anyone who may want to have a min- Dausch Hound. I know at my shelter there are at least 10 people on the list at any given time. Whatever you decide to do please do not throw it on the side of the road. There are homes out there, you just have to seek them out. Good Luck and I am so sorry that your grandma's pet died. It was very thoughtful for everyone to try to replace the dog for her. I have counciled against doing that for this reason. Most places offer gift certificates and that is what I would do next time. Or I would take my grandma and let her pick out her next pet. It was still a very sweet attempt. One question for you? why don't you keep it???? Just a thought. Good luck and I hope that you find the puppy a great for- ever home.
