i really don't see why it should be banned from bars. i can see from resturants and other public places but bars?? i mean come on....i mean its not like they are a family kind of environment. People go into bars and they know that people will be smoking. If they didn't want the smoke drink at home.

they say it is for the health of non smokers and the bar tenders. I live in Scotland and we have now got a full smoking ban. It started in Spring so it was not bad going outside for a quick smoke. However we are now getting into winter and it can be cold. So I am finding I am not smoking as much and I reckon I will probably quit sometime soon. Which in th elong run will be good for me and my wallet too.
Don't worry too much about it. No matter what petitions or anything you sign the government will not stop the ban and the pubs do not lose too much business either.

I also am a smoker and i dont think it is a fair situation at all, I think it should be up to the establishment owners and not the government, just cause some pansies can't handle the smell or are afraid of getting"cancer"cause someone is smoking in their entire city doesnt make it right for all to just bend over and take it!smokers have rights too and we should stand together when the vote comes round!!!whats next?no steak around vegetarians?we are losing more than just a choice here, we are losing a right !sorry to all you non smokers, but you have the right to choose where you go as well as I, why must we cater to you ,if you choose not to cater to us?

I'm in Saskatchewan Canada, and smoking has been banned in all public places since the summer of 2004. Bummer, eh? Just drink at home, now....

You might not believe this but, a child who's parents, or parent, smokes will go into withdrawal in school at about 11:00 AM. Second hand smoke is really bad. You should see the walls at my work in the smoking lounge. They used to be white, now they are yellow. That's what happens to your lungs, too. And evrybody else's.

Because it is invasive, it affects others who do not want to be around smoke. Many people have asthma and bronchitis. I am allergic to smoke, cigarettes, incense (unfortunately) burning leaves, etc. Smoking is unnatural, it is not normal. Smoke filled rooms are not normal and they smell very offensive to people who do not smoke. I love to bathe in beautiful fragrances and go out fresh and clean. I hate smelling like an ashtray when I return home. I will sometimes get out of a line in a store because a person is smoke filled and STINKS. I hate having to hang my clothes outside to rid them of the stench after being exposed to smoke. Smoking was once considered sophisticated. No longer... It makes people look like what they are...addicts. Not trying to put you down, just being very honest.

I don't understand this.
I can go into a bar, drink poison, engage is risky sexual behavior, eat that crap that they serve, perhaps get a pool cue to part my hair, but I can't smoke a cigarette because it's bad for me?
Am I getting this right? Isn't that why you go to a bar?

because people who don't go to bars create a big stink about it. If there really was a lot of demand for a non-smoking bar, it would be a thriving business.

because it has been medically proven that second hand smoke is more dangerouse than actual smoking so in the health intrest of others most public spaces will ban cigarettes at some point in the near future sorry theres always your car and home
