In many cases, I would say that some people who call themselves Christians have impacted the world in terrible ways throughout history. But true Christianity is not bad. Many people twist it (such as the Crusaders), but that doesn't make it bad. It has given many people hope and all in all, made the world a better place. True Christians have started many organizations around the world such as Compassion International, which lets people sponsor poor children in third-world countries. Christianity is also what most of our founding fathers believed in and what most of our laws our founded on. Without Christianity, this world would be much worse because people would have no moral standards.

What did Christianity offer the world? Better said, What did God offer the world. The answer is Salvation.
After accepting Jesus Christ as Saviour and repenting you then become a Christian.
Thanks for letting me straighten you out on this matter.><>

A chance to be free. It was Jesus' offer, not a religion's offer. Religion is always soiled by humans, who suffer great loss of I.Q. and ethics, when they form groups. Christianity has done all it could to become Anti-Christ.
But Jesus said, "The kingdom of heaven is within you." and "The two most important commandments are these; Love God entirely and Love thy neighbor as thyself." and "Blessed are the poor in spirit" and all those lovely beatitudes. Do not confuse Jesus with the ensuing madness called religion.
If you study the scriptures from the major religions, it becomes clear that they all were inspired originally from the same source. And all, without exception, have become instruments of ignorance and, on occasion, evil.
Being poor in spirit is interpreted as having a lack of spiritual claims and paraphanalia. So one could make that one's practice and be well served by it. Struggle to make no spiritual claims, rituals, and knick-knacks
The only answer, therefore, is for you to take the trip for yourself. Rely not upon the experiences of cavemen, or others who wrote their views of reality before there were microscopes. Take a look and see for yourself. As Buddha said, "Be a lamp unto yourself." and Jesus, who said, "Become perfect, as I am."

Christianity, as in Christ, offered the world love and salvation. Sadly the message of Christ has been perverted by fallible humans on too many occasions.
Still, those of us who love Christ can do our best to keep the true meaning alive, regardless of how we are viewed by others.

All of humanity has sinned since the dawn of time and will till the end. In the old testament, God basically allows us to dig our own hole (I'm guessing to allow us to prove to ourselves that we are not in control of our destiny) and we prove that very well everyday. Then God (knowing that we are helpless to be sin free), gives us the greatest gift the world could ever ask for. He gives his only son in the flesh, to be sacrificed in payment for the wages of sin. It's a gift, unconditional and free. All anyone has to do is admit they are powerless against sin, ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ as their savior. Some might say it's a little more compliciated than that, but I chose to keep it simple. Jesus said
"Believe in me and ye shall have life everlasting ". Hope that answered you question.

Salvation and a peace of mind.
Read "The Victory of Reason" by Rodney Stark. It's a book about how Christianity helped Western Civilization to advance.

A way to overcome the enemy of our souls...a way to get to heaven....a way to have peace, joy, love, and an example to live by that can change the world.
Not everyone who says they are a Christian is necessarily a Christian. Some are bad examples....and are Christians in name only... Real Christians live up to the ideals and teachings of Jesus...
