Understanding Military Medical Care
From Rod Powers,
Your Guide to U.S. Military.

Depending upon their status, active duty members, retired members, members of the Guard/Reserves, family members, and certain veterans receive free or government subsidized medical and dental care. For the most part, this care falls under an overall program known as "Tricare." While the Tricare system may appear to be complicated at first glance, it's really not all that hard to understand.

You will have medical insurance through tricare or tricare remote while he is activated if you are far enough from a military base with medical facilities. Once he is deactivated, the coverage ends 90 days after his orders expire. Dental coverage is also available through Delta Dental for a small fee I think.

You should be able to. You need to check your paperwork and/or contact the benefits office. If you have a military ID, and are able to access the base and the Px, then you should have no problem getting insurance for the family especially if your husband has insurance.
