I don't get it. I've cursed lots of things, but it never occurred to me to curse a fruit tree for not bearing fruit out of season. Good thing there weren't cars in Jesus' day, can you imagine what he might have done to people when he got a good case of road rage?

Other reference to the fig tree depict it as a type and shadow of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Jesus curses the fig tree for two reasons: 1. that disciples learn the power available to them through faith; and 2. that of the parable of the believer who bears no fruit at the time of judgment is an indication of the fruitless believer's fate. If you consider that we are also disciples of Christ, we are to take the same type and shadow as well as the lesson of the parable as an indication of both power in Christ/faith and judgment of our use of that power. There has been much discussion of the exact meaning of this parable among theologians for some time. You can find several papers on it's discussion using any search engine. Some theories are outrageous; all are interesting to look over.

Actually when Jesus cursed the fig tree it was the time of year when fig trees were supposed to be bearing fruit. His curse of the fig tree was justified by the fact that there should have been fruit on it. In fact just about any farmer of that day would have chopped the tree down anyway at that point.

Miss Ann??? I truly don't believe you have enough Bible knowledge to be posting question in this site, but let me help you a little. The Bible was written literally and figuratively. Jesus was talking about people that don't produce fruit. It is a figure of speech. You must be a born again believer, commit yourself to a Bible study and learn about Christianity before having an opinion. I resent the fact that you think "Jesus was having a tantrum" That is disrespectful. you cursing anything does not make a difference because you are not deity.

And curiously that's meant to be a damning value against Jews.... in fact, it says much extra approximately Christianity's real dating with Judaism. Making up unusual memories and awaiting an extremely diverse faith to be some thing that it isn't is as daft as cursing a fig tree for doing precisely what that's meant to be doing. according to probability some day they are going to comprehend that that's detrimental and impolite to coach yet another faith into the villain of their very own.

Try reading the whole parable. It makes sense when you read the whole thing and not just focus on the fig tree. Since you are obviously not a Christian, for making a slamming comment about Our Lord Jesus and Road Rage, I will also be praying for you. God Bless.

You must think that you are real funny. Why not get serious with God, before He decides to take you off of the road? And He will not have to be in a rage to do it.

Jesus throwing a tantrum? Now that's a funny visual.
