I have strep throat (I've been on antibiotics for 36 hours, including a penicillin shot.) Tonight I felt like something fuzzy was trapped in my tonsil. I shined a flashlight on it and saw something black. I coughed to get watever it was out, but my tonsil sort of blasted open and I saw the gaping hole in my tonsil for just a second. (The black was apparently this space.) My tonsils have done really weird things through the years, but this is alarming. Do I need to worry about my tonsils rupturing or cannibalistic subterraneous creatures living in that cavernous space or anything?

You are funny. Your tonsils have a job. they keep you from getting sick in the rest of your body by filtering out germs. so, yours filetr a lot do they. Just keep taking all that medicine and you will be ok. The body has a way of healing...with help at times. You must have it bad if they shot you too! Take it easy and drink warm liquids to make your throat feel better. Try 2 tsp. jello in hot water...great for sore throat!

no I have had strep throat numerous times and it makes your tonsils do wierd things. If this continues and you are worried, have a doc check it out.
