I've been in the military for about 6 years now. Im in the active army and went through basic in 2001. Im sure not much has changed since then but it really depends on where your doing basic at. All the classes are pretty much the same but the degree of diffculty depends on where your at. The best thing to have is a positive mental outlook. Its going to be hard and your going to be put through test that will push your mental and physical limits but its designed to that. With a positive out look and showing up with some physical strengh will help you get through. Remember lots of people graduate basic training so don't think that you can't. Some of the classes you will do are military customs, Basic Rifle Marksmanship, Drill and Ceremonie and many more. Good Luck.

I went to basic training at Fort Jackson in 2000 and it was a cakewalk. The drill sergeant will try to get under your skin but stand your ground and hold your own. It is all a mind game. It will either make you or break you! Good Luck!

Active Duty USAF, not much anyone can tell you on basic that will truly help. Each person has their own unique experiences there. The one thing that is the same though, just remember that most of basic is a mental challenge. Sure it is physically demanding but the real challenge is dealing with your drill instructors constantly pushing you. Everyone breaks but you have to build back up, and don't ever laugh at them if and when they get in yours or someone elses face.

Don't be first, Don't be last and don't volunteer for anything.

Don't stick out.

try and learn all the ranks now so you will not be behind the curve because they will quiz you on them as soon as you get there.

yelling and push ups are training, it is nothing personal.

Welcome to the Army!

If you have a SFC Sutton he was my old platoon Sergeant in Iraq he is a Drill at Jackson now.

I am along with something like 1.3 million other men and women who decided to serve their country. I went through AF basic so I wouldn't be much help on what to expect other than the day begins at 0500 and lights out at 2200 or somewhere in that area.

I was there about 10 years ago. So I don't think any info I give you would be of help. Just pack the basics on the list don't bring any thing extra. Bring a small thing of writing paper, envelopes and stamps. Have fun ... it's great. My favorite was the tower!

Basic is a cakewalk hunny...just be where you are told to be in the right uniform and do what you are told. Then you pass. No prob. And by the way...you will be well aware of the term "Relaxin Jackson" when you are done.

Well, we don't have a draft in the US anymore, so the military
consists of men and women who have signed up to serve their
Country, and the National Guard. I really respect them for putting
their lives on line to protect the rest of us. God Bless the Military.

Realize that it is all a game. The game is to see how you respond to stressful situations. Remember do what your told, when you're told, and how you are told, and you should be fine. Again, remember it is only a game of your mental and physical limits and pushing beyond that to do what you have to get done.
