shes saying that because you ARE a bad father. you need to take those maggots off of her and take her to a hospital before she gets gangrene and has to have her leg amputated. and whats with telling her not to ride a MAN'S bike?
FYI: I don't think there is such a thing as MEDICAL grade maggots. a maggot is a maggot. period

Sorry, but i'm a nurse and i think that at 11 years old, i'd freak out too. I know nurses that can't handle looking at maggots and see worse crap than that every day. If it's not necrotic with green or white tissue, it will heal on its own as long as you keep it clean. If it was that deep, why not send her for stitches. I think that is traumatic for an 11 y/o girl and you shouldn't expect her to "understand". You should try alternative methods, like leaving open to air if it's not into the muscle tissue. If it is, have it surgically debrided unless you live somewhere where you can't get good medical care. In that case, you could do wet to dry dressing changes with wet normal saline and gauze into the wound and change twice a day. The wet gauze dries and takes the dead tissue when you remove it.

I have never heard of such!! That would gross me out...sorry. I would not want to threaten her with being grounded and wait around until her leg rotted off. Stop arguing and go to the doctor.
Pleeeesssseee. Are you a Christian Scientist or something and don't believe in doctors or antibiotics or neosporin or peroxide???? Your daughter could suffer serious hangups if she is forced to put maggots on herself. She is not you. Remember that.

Are you are a doctor? Take her to the MD and let them decide if she needs maggots or not. And eleven years old is not old enough to know what's good for you. She's still a child. It would freak me out and I'm an adult. They'd have to knock me out first.

for gods sake....wheres your head at?...get her to a GP and get it treated properly, that poor kid...no wonder she's freaking out....not many 11 year olds like having maggots put on them....get real...threatening to ground her is even worse than the maggots, she's 11 for f sake...what you should be doing is comforting her not scaring the crap out of her....get her to a doctor and stop being an idiot

Why would you tell her that if she didn't do it she would be grounded? It sounds borderline to me. If you are not a doctor, you have no right to make her put anything in her wound especially under the circumstances you did. Get her to a real hospital before something goes seriously wrong.

aren't there any hospitals around???
maggots WTF??
I know people use them but on an 11 year-old girl. Man, you one crazy dad. I know your intentions weren't bad but still. If it was me I go to a hospital before someone puts maggots on me.
