Consider these questions:
1.How far do you hit each of your clubs?
2.What is the challenge of the hole? Lots of bunkers in front, water hazards front, sides, rough in front of green, slope of the green, position of the pin.
3. Weather conditions? Hot ,cold,windy,raining?
4. What game are you playing, stroke, stableford, par?
5. What is the yardage of the hole, is the tee forward or back?
These are all questions you need to answer as you stand on the tee,BEFORE selecting a club. Today a 7 iron, tomorrow could be a 5 wood!
You also need to have a strategy.eg:"I am not going for the pin, I will play short and chip on". or "there is plenty of room beyond the pin so I'll go long to clear the water in front". These are some of the considerations you need to address. It will help you become a better golfer because you are THINKING your way around the course not just HITTING your way around.

Every Par 3 has different distance and different clubs to use. You need to use the club that goes the distance that the Par 3 you are playing. You need to know how far you hit each club and choose the right one.

The main aim is to hit once for the ball to land on the green or into the cup. This depends on the distance that is stated on the card for the par three,it need not be a particular club but the club that can take you to hit the ball for that distance, for an amateur a driver can also be utilized if he feels confident.

Once your on the green, use your putter...lol...Clubs vary in slope and distance to project the ball. It depends on your club speed. You could use a 7 when your out 150 yrds. Or if your club speed is lower, you may need a 5 or 6 iron. The average distance between each club (iron) is 17 yrds. Get to know your swing and how far you hit the ball.

It all just depends on how far you can hit the ball and how far the hole is. I would suggest going to a driving range to figure out how far you can hit each of your clubs, then adjust accordingly to the hole.
