None. Hitting is a dumpable offense in my book. Dump the jerk before he hits again.

None.
Apology? Where's the sense in that. He raised his hand once. That's once too many. Whether he is a b/f or a husband, you LEAVE and leave NOW. Don't be a statistic.
Next thing you know, he comes home drunk often, he will get you pregnant, you end up in woman's shelter, yada, yada......It's a mess. NEVER let anyone hit you or even raise their voice - No, no, Not allowed. Have some self respect and leave now. CALL the police if there is a next time. Don't hesitate even for a second.
He will be behind bars so fast, it will make your head spin.
Hitting is a form of having control over you. Don't let it happen.

First off: And I dont usually do dis but I must comment on some answers. Sarcasm is not what you need right now. Its really hurtful
Now, I am in the process of trying to get a woman in an abusive relationship to leave. I keep getting excuses about when she will and when that time comes, she doesnt.
But I must tell ya. If you let the dude get away with it, he will continue to the point where it becomes a serious danger to you.
My grand parents were married around 30 years. He only hit her one time and when he did, he knocked her out. Of course, he only did it because she was comin after him with a knife cuz she was pregnant with their fourth child.
You are the only one that can decide when the time is to leave him

are you freaking kidding me? none. get out of there while you still can. he will sweet talk you or tell you that he is changed but he is not. if he lost his temper once how many more times do you want him to lose his temper and hit you or for you to be beaten and abused and end up in the emergency room? no guy no matter what has the right to hit a girl or even touch a girl in any way that will hurt her! if he cannot care about you nor your safety run for your life! he will make your life a living hell and you will be the one who ends up hurt both physically, mentally and emotionally. i have had friends who have been where you are but they did the mistake of staying! no chances for your bf. break up with him, cut off all connections and ties and tell your family and friends for crying out loud! do it for your own safety and sake!

Absolutely NONE. The more comfortable he gets around you, the more free he will feel to hit you. By then, your heart is in control and your too embarrassed to admit to anyone what is going on. It becomes a terrible cycle that you can't get out of. Remember, a beating always starts with one single hit.

NONE ! he shouldnt have hit you in the first place. No one has the right to hit another person for any reason. if you continue to allow this to happen you will find yourself in a loveless relationship and you personnally will lose all self esteem as a person. PUT A STOP TO IT NOW ! IF HE TRUELY LOVED YOU HE WOULDNT USE HIS FISTS. GET RID OF HIM. HES NO GOOD !!! YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT !! GOOD LUCK.

I was in a long term relationship with a repeat offender. I also married one. It was the same. Hit me. Apologize. Promise it would never happen again. Couple weeks later....repeat. If he hit you once...he has no manners or remorse. Dump him now. It will only get worse.

He should have never been given another chance after the first time. He knows you keep forgiving him, so he'll continue to do it. Dump him now before he hits hard enough to do some serious damage, if he hasn't already.

In reference to "classy granny," abusers like this aren't interested in "discussing your expectations of each other." Any decent man knows that hitting a woman is WRONG. DO NOT GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE. It could land you in the emergency room if you're lucky, in the morgue if you're not.
