In response to one of my answers, the asker said that I didn't seem to understand the difference between the wisdom of the heart and emotional desire. Perhaps he was right. So could someone clue me in as to what the difference is? Is believing something in your heart the same as wanting it to be true? Seems so to me.

There's often not much difference, I'm afraid.

Wisdom of the heart = absent, because the heart isn't an organ that thinks. It pumps blood. It has four ventricles. It's really unexciting.

Wanting it to be true = the basis of religion, despite all common sense to the contrary.

Wanting, wishing and hoping are just that. These are inactive and uncreative states. Now, belief is usually based on knowledge. You will have to examine each incidence in your experience. I know, this is not a great answer, leaving you with your questioning. You would have to have a single example instead of this whole universe of possibilities. Example: Do you believe in God? The answer to that one is having faith, and that is sufficient.

Of course the is no such thing as "wisdom of the heart".because the heart does not know or think. There is only the mind, and the human capisity to believe what one wants to be true.

When you go to work everyday you are scheduled work you believe in your heart that when you reach payday you will receive a paycheck.

When you go to work everyday you are scheduled to work you believe in your heart that when you reach payday you will become co-owner of the company because the boss likes your attendance.

The first is what you would really believe.
The second is what you are wanting to be true.

A real truism remains the same through any doubt or battle thrown at it. I don't want to gain weight. I can eat a box of cookies and want to remain thin. I can want and want. BU the truth is, there is an element of science at hand. The more I eat, the bigger I'm going to get. There are truisms and there are wishes. Having a spiritual faith is trusting God for something you don't see but you need & believe he will handle it for you. That is faith.

No. It's not the same.

"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better."

The Bible says if we pray and ask God for wisdom He will give it to us.

Wanting is wishing. You could say I wish I could overcome this problem.
Believing, as in believing in God, faith, require trust.
You could say I trust that through prayer and listening to God I can overcome this problem.

The difference is trust.

it's like this you believe that air exist because you feel it and breath it... so that is something we believe something to be true which is a fact...

when you want to believe in something to be true there is a process in order to fulfill that, like what are your dreams that you want to pursue where you have to do something about it for it to become real in you... it is something where you can make things happen... or even break it...

To quote one of my favorite songs sung by Dion.......

"Faith is being sure of what we hope for.
And it is certian of what we do not see.
Faith it surely come by hearing
The word of God, you see.

Trust in the Lord with all of heart heart
and lean not on your own understanding
Acknowledge the Lord in all of your ways
And He will make your path straight."

And of course Dion was quoting the Bible.

I believe that believing something to be true in your heart (intuition) is divine or universal in nature and wanting something to be true that is not is just wishful or hopeful thinking.
