Why are you doing this!? What can you accomplish by wrecking buildings and causing earthquakes!?
SATSUKI
What's wrong with causing earthquakes?
YUZURIHA
Innocent bystanders might get hurt or even die! Like just now! Someone could have gotten hurt! Someone could have died! Did you do this knowing what would happen!?
SATSUKI
Before answering that question, let me ask you something. Why is it "wrong to kill human beings?"
YUZURIHA
What do you mean "why?"
SATSUKI
Humans kill a lot of animals. And trees, and grasses, and flowers, too. Even if they didn't do it consciously, they still keep killing other living things. Why? Because the other living things can't communicate with humans? Because the other living things are not as clever as humans? Well then, is it justifiable to kill a living thing that cannot communicate with you and is less clever than you?
YUZURIHA
...No!

It is not always wrong to kill. Things are never just black and white. No rules apply to every situation.
In general, it is wrong to kill, IMO. This society would be difficult to function in if, every time you met someone, you had to decide whether they were going to kill you or not. The rules that we have on society serve a definite purpose. They help people live amongst each other with relative peace. The set of laws we have don't conform exactly with anyone's personal morality. However, they are a set that works relatively well, because they've been tested over time and have evolved to be what they are. And they conform enough to our morality that we work well within them.
On the other hand, if your life is threatened, for example, you shouldn't have any guilt about having to kill that person who threatens you. While it is tragic that you had to take a life, it was not an evil on your part. In that case, it would be self-defense. There are similar arguments for killing in war. Of course, all of this is debatable, because we all have different values. But it is through debate and communication that we learn how to work with others and develop our own morality and character.

Depends on what you are killing....a spider...a cow...a human? Just kiddin! Hmmm, good question as I can feel the gears a turnin'. I would think that people of faith would say that it is wrong to kill because it is a commandment of some sort. The christians have the 10 commandments, the Wiccans have the Wiccan Rede....etc. For me personally, as an atheist, I would say that it is wrong to kill because life is short and it is precious. We each have a path to walk and it is not for anyone to alter another's path or choices. To kill is the ultimate act of taking another's free will away. Taking the ultimate freedom...which is life its self.

These religions you speak of are perhaps conservative ideological traditions originating before the establishment of ancient paternalistic theocracies. Maybe the idea of agreement between a gang of people and their god leads to a desire upon the part of members to conform to a standard of conduct proclaimed to be the will of god by ideological authorities affirming an ability to know about the existence of a good one in Heaven at war with an evil one cast down to and ruling over Earth. If their god commands this gang of people, let us call them Israelites to exterminate the inhabitants of a city, let us call it Jericho and claim the land of the Caananites for themselves then these gangsters who have agree amongst themselves not to kill each other will kill others in the interest of fighting evil.

The reason not to kill has to deal with the development of society.
Imagine if you will a society where killing is acceptable...
In this society people would fear each other. It would not be good for individuals to meet with other individuals, they would risk being killed. As such the foundations of a society would never start, civilization would not exist. However, people fearful of each other got together and formed a social contract. It is basically if you don't kill me I will not kill you. This allows society to begin, grow, and flourish.
So basically if you want to live in society you agree not to kill others, and if you don't society will expel or punish you.

First, it's not neccessarily wrong to kill, ie. Wars, self-defense, bugs that spread disease, etc.
However, murder is wrong for a number of reasons:
Mainly, because God said don't murder.
If that's not enough:
It's just not nice.
But, some justify it by:
Artificial selection, to further acceptable procreation
Assiting suicide, considering it "mercy killing"
Participating in abortion, for a better outcome for the mother & child
So, your reasoning, for or against, is determined by your world outlook. Are human lives valuable for some reason? Do they serve any purpose?
Once you can answer these questions, you will have found the reason you're looking for.

We all know its wrong because the nature of morality is OBJECTIVE and not subjective. God has laid out what is right and wrong from the beginning of time and imprinted it into our very being.
Objective morality is a great evidence for God. If God doesnt exist, then objective morals arent objective at all. Morality doesnt reside in human convention or opinion. If morality is subjective then what Hitler did really wasnt EVIL or WRONG, youre forced to simply say you dont agree with it or its not what you would do. Subjective morality leads to moral relativism which leads to a complete blindness and inability to identify and convict sin.

It is wrong to kill the innocent, because it is wrong to play God.
There are situations in the Bible that call for killing oppressors and persons who endanger the lives of others, but, even that is tempered by the "let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
In war, scripture says, men die, but one must never "gloat over the fallen enemy" or you'd risk the wrath of God.
Survival Instincts tell us Kill or be killed. We're supposed to rise above that while, at the same time defending ourselves and freeing the oppressed.
On the other hand, anyone who threatens the lives of my kids or grandkids, deserves death. Is it wrong for me to feel that way?
Hope I made this clear.......... :)

God is the creator of and source of life. When people kill each other, they are playing God.... and taking back what God gave. He made the rules... and He made the life... and he wants us to respect His creation. Those who do not respect God, or life, do what they want, thinking there will be no consequences...but there always it. Some people die... some get injured....and some are destoyed emotionally. It wrecks the family... It hurts all of society. It causes society to make more and more rules. Rules are always made for those who break the rules....in the hope that they will recognize the error of their ways.
