Why, then, do you think that Christianity is so heavily politicized in the US? What possible purpose could it serve, and do you think its right?

Because politicians work on angles & the fears of people. Look at Bush. Part of the reason that black people voted for him was because he was anti-gay marrage & pastors preach that in their churches. So what does he do? Go to black churches & say that he follows Jesus & he wont allow gays to marry. I know this because people that i know that are heavy into the church voted for him because of that.

Religion is personal, politics are not. But people continue to mix the two & i hate that. Jesus is a great marketing tool for people in the US, sorry to say. Poilticians, TV pastors uses Jesus' name to gain power & to get paid. The fact that so called christians would vote for a muderer & liar like Bush was amazing to me. Jesus walked on water, but his follower Bush watched thousands of people drown in New Orleans.

Jesus was saying that his kingdom is a spiritual kingdom. It exists in the hearts of believers as well as in the Heavenly realm. I don't know what you mean about Christianity being politicized exactly, but Christians are called to shine the light of Christ's kingdom into this darkened world by how they live their lives in the hope that people who are still living in darkness will come to the light and be saved.

Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Philippians 2:14 Do all things without grumbling and disputing, 15 in order that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine as light bearers in the world,

Hello September,
You have made a statement in your opening. Jesus Christ is quoted as having said, "My Kingdom is not of this world."

September, I take it that you are not a Christian. If you were, you would not need to ask a question like this.

Politicized, wrong choice of word here. I'm so glad that our country is a country that is based on the Word of God. And, I believe God is happy with it as well.

Can you imagine for one moment just how this country would have turned out if it did not embrace the teaching from the Bible to guide us to where we are today.

I have accepted Jesus Christ and am part of the Dominion. When you say the word Kingdom it means, King and His Dominion.

I don't know what you are trying to achieve but I very happy that used respect to God by using Caps in the His name.><>

His kingdom is holy. This world is sinful. One day sin will be done away with. The folks who want to be part of his kingdom are IN this world. But they don't have to be OF the world or like the world. What purpose? Well knowledge serves a purpose to lead us to God. Without a vision the people perish.

Governments should not try to force people to accept Christ as their Savior, but the US government works correctly when the duly elected representatives of the people pass laws to protect the citizens such as do not murder, steal, etc. Some of these laws are similar to the Christian 10 commandments, but are essentially universal human agreed-upon requirements necessary for a free and protected citizenry. Christ was referring to His kingdom that is the universe except the earth and on the current earth was and is in human minds who give themselves to Him. In the future the new earth will be created and that earth will be the center of Christ's kingdom.

Are you referring to dominionism? The Gospel of Salvation is achieved by setting up the “Kingdom of God” as a literal and physical kingdom to be “advanced” on Earth in the present age. Some dominionists liken the New Testament Kingdom to the Old Testament Israel in ways that justify taking up the sword, or other methods of punitive judgment, to war against enemies of their kingdom. Dominionists teach that men can be coerced or compelled to enter the kingdom. They assign to the Church duties and rights that belong Scripturally only to Jesus Christ. This includes the esoteric belief that believers can “incarnate” Christ and function as His body on Earth to establish His kingdom rule. An inordinate emphasis is placed on man’s efforts; the doctrine of the sovereignty of God is diminished.

It is not right.

You have to know the context and the reason it was said the people were trying to make him a king on one occcassion and on another incident he was handed over to pilate to be executed and pilate asked him if he were king of the jews the intent was to show people that Gods kingdom is from a Heavenly source and infinitely superior to the petty governments of this world and that his subjects his followers were not to part of this political system but subjects of the Heavenly Kingdom we pray for in the Lords prayer got it now Gorbalizer

He's saying that heaven is not on earth. It's the choices we make on earth that decides if we make it to His kingdom or not. The purpose is to try to be better people and love one another. What's wrong with that? The big 3.....Love God, Love yourself, Love others. What a world this would be if only.

Some people just want to utilize the power and influence of the church, but some have a heartfelt concern for the morality and general direction of the country towards liberalized secularism. Put it this way, you can never go wrong by doing it Gods way.

I find it amazing that we cannot quote people correctly right now, but I'm expected to think that someone could be quoted correctly over 2000 years ago. A #2 pencil wasn't very common back then, and I'm pretty sure noone had a tape recorder.
