When you die, you are just dead. Nothing happens to you until the day of resurrection. When someone dies that I know personally, I am sad mostly for myself. I cry because I know that I wont get to see or talk to that person for a long time, if ever. It's not because I think they are going to hell, because if they went straight to hell or heaven, what would be the purpose of judgment day? I am sad for people that I know who have died or who is ill and dying because of their family and the love they have for this person. Death is a sad situation and we will all face it one day. Jesus even wept for his friend Lazarus, because he loved him.

Heaven isn't about being young again with your family... heaven is about being in the presence of God, and being able to worship Him. And just because heaven exists, doesn't mean everyone will go there. I don't know a single Christian who would inform someone, dying or otherwise, that they are or might be going to hell. And I know many Christians. I have met Christians who will ask a stranger if they know where they're going after they die, and then ask them how they know that. The reason they ask that is to introduce Jesus into the conversation; they don't beat around the bush. Those people usually are on some sort of a mission; perhaps going around their neighborhood and evangelizing. Nobody I know of would be so nasty as to use a scare tactic, but we are (for the most part, I THINK) realists. We believe that the reality is, Christ is the "key". Christ said once that marriages won't exist in heaven; we will be like the angels (who don't pro-create). Additionally, I don't think that as soon as you die, you go to heaven or some holding bin. The Bible says that when the seventh trumpet sounds (which may be a literal trumpet sound or a figurative trumpet), the dead in Christ wil rise first and meet Him in the air. That means that SOMEHOW, body or no, those who have already died and who were Christians, will at THAT point go on to be with Christ.

There are people who proclaim to be Christians and those that really are. You are able to tell who the real Christians are by their actions. I'm a real Christian and don't proclaim to know who's going to Heaven or Hell. I may not ever know. God has asked us to love others and that's what I try to do regardless of whether someone might go to Heaven or Hell. As far as being scared of death, I think most people are nervous about leaving the only life they've known for many years and going someplace they've never been. It's human nature. When it comes to someone else dying though it gives great comfort to know that they might be in Heaven with God for all eternity. God bless.

A person who is truly a Christian would never treat anyone on their deathbed, as you have described, mean in any way. A true Christian will have the love of God in their heart. I am a Christian, and if I know that someone is lost, and is on their way to Hell, to burn in the lake of fire, I would do my very best to try and encourage them to ask for God's forgiveness for their sins; so that they do not have to go to Hell; not try and scare them or ever tell them that I hope that they go there. I most certainly believe in Hell, just as much as I believe in Heaven. But all that I can do is to try and warn other people of Hell; and then pray that they will turn to God for forgiveness. And if I were on my death bed, of course I would not be happy that I am dying; but I do not have to be scared to die either. Because I know that I am going to Heaven; and every thing will be wonderful there. Death is just a moment, when we either enter into everlasting life with our Heavenly Father, or into eternal separation from Him, because of refusing to believe in Jesus Christ his Son. If people have treated you like crap, and told you that they wish that you would go to Hell, then you can rest assured that they are not a Christian. And if you are not a Christian, I want you to go to Heaven, not Hell. So my advise is to ask God for forgiveness for your sins. For Jesus is going to return very soon.

I am not sure of the circle of people that you run in but for the most part the people I know would never treat anyone the way that you are talking, I have a Friend that is dying of cancer as we speak and she is not fearful, she is treated well, but even if she was not a christian I would treat her the same......There is not fear of dying in a person that is a true christian as they know that the real wondrous life is at hand!
God Bless

NO BODY WILL BURN IN HELL FOR ETERNITY!!! That is not Biblical, it is rather a made up story by the Catholics during the Dark Ages to scare people so that they can make money and have control over them. Not to bash Catholics but it is the truth.
Jesus came to give eternal life (John 3:16) and He came to give because none have it but God(1 Timothy 1:17). If people burn in hell for eternity then they have eternal life.
Please, study the Word of God and forget what men teach you for they worship God in vain because of their teachings: Mark 7:7.

If someone mocks a dying person and says such cruel things to them they are not Christ like but rather perfect the character of satan.
Christians: beware of who you serve for if you live then you are dead. If you die for Jesus to live in you then you will live His life for He alone is the life(John 14:6).
Some may say that Christians are afraid of death. I don't belive that they are Christians then but mere religious people. Look at those who were burned on stakes and tortured while they sang songs of joy! That is a Christian and that is not because of the person but because of Jesus living in them. A lamb that did not open His mouth when He was taken to be sacrificed for our sins! Are you one?

It's all because religion is the way humans try to avoid their absolute terror of death. People are in denial in order to live without so much fear. A belief in the afterlife is what comforts them. But when it comes down to it, everyone is still afraid because deep down they are pretty sure that when you're dead, you're dead.

Wow, I'd like to meet the Christians you've met...to convert them to Christianity, coz obviously they're not Christians and have serious issues.
You're summing up a large amount of people, hoss. Obviously you've met a few jerk Christians in your time, but most of "us folks" aren't like that. I would never tell someone to go to hell, and I most certainly believe it exists.
I have met many Christians who were ready to die and go be with their Savior.

I prefer to declare Jesus is my instructor and instruction manual. i actually do not relate to the be conscious "lord" in any respect.
