I was interested in finding out if you can get cash back at the store when you buy groceries with a credit card and whether it is counted towards a cash purchase or cash advance. Thanks for your help.

No. You cannot get cash back with any credit card at a grocery store. You can only get cash back with a debit card.

yes, but only with the right credit card that gives you cash back. I think Discover (or Amerian Express?) might give something like 2% cash back. I've never heard of it counting towards cash advances though. Search the websites linked below for cards that offer cash back

I've never heard of a store giving cash back for credit card purchases. You have to visit the bank for that. There is a special form involved.... they need ID's signatures, etc.

Yes you can get cash back with certain credit cards. often times you get more % cash back if its gas, gorcery or (somthing else i cant remember) but yeah i have been using a CC with cash back and I have made good use of it by charging almost everything on it. plus make sure if you get one or have one, charge up the gas on it, it really adds up.
also, pls pay your bill on time or else it will defeat the whole purpose.

And NO you dont get any cash back on balance transfers, or cash advances as such. (to the best of my knowledge)

Getting cash back is possible, but it depends on the shop/retailer you go to. not all do it. normally it is a cash purchase and your bank do not charge you extra, but some shops/retailers charge for use of the service.

The payment you send in goes toward your purchases balance. If your payment is larger than the minimum payment due as stated on the billing statement, that excess goes toward the highest interest balance.
