We ALWAYS have the best display on our street, but there is these new people who moved in just down the road and they must have spent a couple hundred on there display. They made a huge walk through haunted house in the garage and rumor is they will be in the local paper. Well it's always been our house in the local paper.
Should I sneak over tonight and trash it all? I was thinking of dumping white paint over everything, or maybe just trashing it. What do you think?

No. Even if no one sees you and you are never caught, what you end up doing is feeling bad about yourself for stooping so low as to destroy someone else's property. Even if you feel there's a good reason for doing it, it's still wrong and you either know it or will know it at some point. Plus it sets a precedent on how you handle your problems. This will only teach you that you can always destroy other peoples' property if you are displeased by it.
It's only a very small deal in the grand scheme of your life. Someday, maybe a few years from now, it won't even matter if they copied your display or not. You may even laugh about it.

No. I can imagine that it's annoying. You should act like an adult. You can't be mad because someone likes to enjoy halloween and did a better job than you. That's life. Wait a year or two.
Just relax, and don't let it get to you. Does it really mean that much to you to have all the attention? Let them pay the big bucks if that's what it takes to bring people around. Have a halloween party with your friends and get drunk and laugh and have fun. Atleast you don't have to spend big money so you can feel liked for a week or two.
If you want to be famous go pretend like your jumping off a freeway overpass.
It also shows what type of person you are.

Don't do that. You guys should be flattered that someone thought your stuff was so awesome that they wanted something exatly like it. Since they're willing to go all out like you, then you should get together next year and plan something totally awesome together, then you'll both be in the paper. If you trash it then they might do the same and then you have police involved, not to mention all the money you will lose. Do you want to get in the paper that way. Be an adult and think twice about your actions. Good luck.

That is shallow and not even funny.
If the new people like having the big display thats great. Let them get in the paper. You can have fun trying to out do each other and actually be cool with one another as neighbors. But if you decide to be a piece of sh*t I hope you have bail money.

You ask questions about crapping on neighbor's porches, then trashing Halloween displays.
You sound as if there is anger, resentment, jealousy is troubling you so deeply.
You do not make a friend. You have MAJOR issues that need to be addressed.

Jealously is an ugly thing! NO you shouldn't destroy what they put money & time into, I'm SURE they didn't go to all this trouble of making a great halloween display jsut to out-do you, thats ridicilious. Grow up & you will have the rest of this year & next to plan for next years halloween display - blast them out of the water then!

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Be pleased in knowing you were first and leave their stuff alone. Why are you so jealous? If you get caught doing it, well you'll make the paper again and probably become the laughingstock of the neighborhood.

you have the risk of getting arrested for it, having court dates and maybe jail time and fines but go for it. besides all your doing is trepassing, breaking and entering, destruction of property. and who knows if your lucky they might call the cops and you could get your pic in the newspaper with the title: "White Trash"
your right you can't go to jail for it. where do we think we are these days? America? instead they will probably be waiting for you with a loaded shotgun in their lap. especially in ohio. besides you want to be in the paper the legal way.

Not a good idea. How would you feel if someone trashed your display? Next year just try harder to be the best - that's what this country is all about - friendly competition.
