Now the wicks are stiffened with iron, copper or nickel alloy wire. The filament is thinner with those metals so that they will melt and burn off, but I still wouldn't recommend buying any candle with a wired wick. You don't want copper fumes in your home any more than lead fumes...

I buy wood wick candles because I prefer the crackle. I make candles and they don't have lead in the wick and haven't for a very very long time now.

Buy Yankee brand and you won't have to worry. Theirs are very safe and contain no lead. There is a new brand out with wood wicks that crackle like a burning fireplace. Waaaay cool!

It could be. Just use them for decroation. Don't burn them. If you want to burn candles buy new ones.
