Iraq has no bearing on my life. None! So, those military men and women who have died in Iraq have died for nothing. Remember, Iraq did not do 9-11 and has no WMD.

I keep an open mind to your question....i.e. I agree with you .......and ....yes....I also disagree with you!

What I worry about more is that History is repeating itself!

Nobody seems to put himself in the North Korean's shoes.. lt me bring you back to the 1962 .......how did the US react when JFK found out the soviets were going to place nuclear arms in Cuba?

The US took the world to the edge of an all-out nuclear war.........be coz the US just could not tolerate a Cuba with nuclear arms!

Bring you back to today.......the N.Koreans face a S.Korea with the US stationed on its soil......with a less than friendly Japan as US's ally! The US is a nuclear superpower.......and has the largest fleet of marine, aerial & land fighting vessels in the world.

If you were Kim Jong Il.....would you feel comfortable? Would your hair not stand up like a bird's nest? Wouldnt you want to stand taller on elevated shoes?

Dont you want to puff up your chest......brandish your 'sword'....... do your war dance.......and explode a bomb or two?

Look at history again.......did the 2 Vietnam collapse into all-out civil war after the US was kicked out with their tail between thei legs in 1975......with the fall of Saigon?

What make the US think their presence held Iraq together, or the Koreas together?

If the US pull out of Iraq & S.Korea ............I can predict with almost certainty....

1)......... the Iraqis will quickly settled down to governing their own country with mature wisdom..............(the hated enemy occupier is gone)............and the Shites, Sunni & Kurds will find a common good & reconcile their differences.

2)......the 2 Koreas will reconcile, hug & be brothers again............and settle down to the task of governing themselves with whatever wisdom they could muster.

I am not predicting there'll be no bloodshed..........there will be some......... (one can hardly expect any birth.......babies or nations..... to be blood free!).... but definitely less violence or bloodshed than.........with the US occupation........ what is happening now!

In the present stand-off between the US and N.Korea........... I just hope history does not duplicate itself..........as in the 1962 confrontation between the US & Soviet/Cuba...)...... I can see G.Bush in great great danger of meeting the same fate as JFK!

Of coz......Kim Jong Il might be toppled.......the 'big hope' of the Western world.........but in all honesty I cannot see that happening!

Kim is a 'mad' man......together with his generals......he does not care if his people live or die.........he spy on them and mete out extreme punishments for the slightest fault.....

....in his mind.....he only see the bullying tactics of the US ............and how the US & the rest of the world has now gang up on him!

He's willing to call their bluff.........and he is not bluffing..........has Kim ever NOT performed what he HAD threatened to do?!

The US had its chance to knock out N.Korea's nuclear 'capability' years ago................ but they did not! The US had played according to the western rules & follow the western beliefs........

i.e. I do this.......therefore...... you do that. I am nice to you.......and you be nice to stop your nuclear work.

No!.....the US (and the world) found out the N.Koreans were going full blast (w nuclear enrichment) ......... while they were been nice & generous!

What now?.....you may ask.

I dont wnat to tell you to wait for the N.Korean bomb to drop on Seoul or Tokyo........but there is a good 15% chance Kim would do that if he is pushed into a corner!

Dont believe the Chinese or the Ruyssians either........ the Chinese had been egging Kim on all these years.........the Chinese dont particularly like the US (right from the time when the US supported Chiang Kai Siak)......and they dont wnat the US to ramain an ally of Taiwan.....

.....for all the world may know the Chinese were the 'bankers' of the N.Korean behaviour...........and the Russians are not exactly in sorrow becoz of Kim's stubborness either! (......and they msut be more than angry with the John Bolton's comparison of Kim's ambassador's walk out of the UN to Keruchev's shoe-banging performance in the 1950s!)

OK.....I guess I had given you more than just food for thought...

Now..... to answer your question: Not a lot of benefits....... but it sure screws up your lifestyle!

Well......tell that moron in the White House....he's better be careful and dont go out alone at night!

I am a E-5 / SGT that just got back from a tour in Iraq with a Military Police Brigade and you have a great question. But you are correct that Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, but at the time when we were going to attack Iraq in 2003, Saddam Hussein, the countries dictator and President, was still claiming that he had played a rolled in the attacks. Saddam Hussein had strong links to Al Qaeda, and helped plan and support the hijackers who attacked the United States on September 11. Saddam said that 9-11 was a great day for Al Qaeda and considered that day a great victory for the group. I am not saying that he played a role in that but he could have. Then with the weapons of mass destruction. No the U.N. didn't find any. NO the U.S. didn't find any. But the U.N. and the U.S. did find the rockets capable of reaching U.S. boarders but with out the war heads, and no one can tell me different because I was there to see the rockets uncovered. Saddam also made an announcement to the Iraq people on TV that he had weapons of mass destruction and he had intentions of using them on the U.S. and any other country that interfered with him and his country. So he had the rockets that were capable to carry WMD, but not the war heads, and he said that he had the WMD, so who is to say that he was close to getting his hands on those war heads and if you were on the Presidents board that gives him advise on what actions to take in instants like this, would you risk the lives of your loved ones and the lives of our country all because you were not sure he played a role in 9-11 or not sure that he had WMD. But think about this as well, since we have been in Iraq, Bush has turned that country into a battle field for the terroist group to come into Iraq and fight the U.S. on there soil and out of the U.S. in doing this have you seen any terrorist acts take place in the U.S. I have not. For our soldiers that pass on, in combat, think about everything you do every moment of the day and thank those fallen soldiers for the sacrifices that they have made for you to have those freedoms.

Stop with the misinformation first...... there WERE WoMD components found in Iraq... the mainstream meadia just has not wanted to really stick with that story as it makes the Dems look better and shines a negative light on the current administration

Next.... the Iraq situation impacts everyone's life, but not in huge ways... and the service men and women died for something worthwhile indeed.... bringing a chance at freedom to people who never had it before......

Iraq has not much in the way of WMD now, but it certainly did in the past -- after all, it used them. In fact, Iraq was literally within hours of launching a WMD attack on Israel when the Gulf War intervened, rendering it impractical. Due to increasing pressure from the US, most of Iraq's WMD materials were secretly shipped off to Syria starting in June 2002, where presumably they still are.

I feel guilty everytime I go to the bathroom because men and women are protecting us so that I can do this simple act without fear. Silly isn't it what we take for granted because women and men volunteer to defend our simple freedoms?

I don't know how old you are but just think if the truck carrying the milk for your cereal was also used as a bomb. Untold destruction would occur when the bomb went off but there wouldn't be any milk for your cereal? Silly isn't it?

Now lets get serious. Imagine your dad is having a heart attack and the ambulance trying to make it to his house is stopped for... a security check. Because the milk truck was used as a bomb and now everything needs to be checked. Still silly?

Now imagine all schools were closed because the risk to the children is to great as a result of the milk truck bomb because his first stop that day was... a school. This isn't silly anymore is it?

We have to protect the right of the people of this country. Right now it means finding the people who want to take those rights away.

Because we do not have our own individual intelligence agency on who attacked our country on 9-11, we are relying on our own government to find, identify and apprehend those who want to harm us.

Our government has determined that Iraq and Afganistan are countries supporting international terrorism against the United States. With support from the United Nations we employed military force in a soverien country to depose those who are plotting against you and I.

The men and women who are fighting are fighting for a way of life that you and I take for granted.

Be aware that asking your question would be considered illegal in anyone of those countries.

Thank God we have brave women and men defending your freedoms every day.

No WMD's... agreed. But evidence supports resources and capabilities including manufacturing of such devices existed. Additionally, there are documented speaches and promises made my its rulers to employ such devices against all its enemies... and you were on the list!

This is a great question and represents what men and women are fighting for... your right to ask such questions. I sense you have strong emotions for the men in women who are fighting and I respect that. You want to do something about it? Write to your congressman and senators and express how you feel.

Our military protects America, your way of life and your freedoms and rights every day. In case you're totally ignorant (which most of us know you are), there hasn't been another attack on American soil since the invasion. Our military is fighting them overseas to keep them away for our lands. Wasn't one attack enough for you?? Do you suggest we live 9/11 over and over again?? Get over yourself erudite. We all know you're not brave enough to fight if they brought the battle hear. It's much too easy for you to sit behind your desk to bash the US and our military.

By the way, it's been proved to you over and over again that Al Qaeda had ties to Iraq for years. It's even documented in paperwork from the Clinton administration. There's also been WMD's captured in Iraq. Several of them. We just didn't find the large quantities expected because they had time to take them across the border and bury them in sand that runs more miles than your yellow streak.

If you want to fight a cause, at least use facts and intellect.

I have no clue how would dying in Iraq protect our way of life since Iraq became a haven for terrorists which was not allowed during Saddam's regime being secular and besides Iraq has become a chaotic place dangerous to the world with no strong government and no strong military , that is way too dangerous to the world than it was before to our lives anywhere since it can propagate to the region and transform other countries to its model of chaos . Remember chaos is the same as tyranny..

By fighting the evil at HIS homeground and not URs.
Saddam having no WMD is now left behind. Right now the problem is that all world's evil has gathered in Iraq and Afghanistan to try and defeat America. And if they succeed there, next they will come to ur homeland and that WILL greatly affect ur way of life. So keep the evil at bay if u want to protect ur way of life,

I don't know how to agree with you more.. Iraq was not a terrorist bed before the USA attacked but it is now. So having troops in the middle east is a must now. Bush screewed that one up just like he did any thing else he ever touched.. Like all the failed business in the oil fields.. Remember those. He did nothing to help texas that I have ever heard. Just a slug that got in office some how.. Not enough votes for him to get there.. Humm..

Soon we will have control of their oil and you and I and others can continue to waste it.

Hypothetical of course. You may not waste oil and I know I do not waste oil but others with their gas gulping toys do not help the situation any.

We as Americans have shown the market will bear 3 dollar a gallon fuel and it will continue to rise.

Terrorists? Well lets go into...Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon.....Syria who we KNOW allows terrorist to enter Iraq thru their country, Saudi Arabia who we KNOW helped Bush orchestrate 9/11, and Lebanon who we KNOW harbors Hezballah.. Well Bush, you said you would "hunt them down"

PS

I lost a high school buddy over "there" so don't call me unpatriotic. I have LOTS of questions for Mr. Bush and the above are just a few.

Oh yeah. A "liberated" Iraq has bred THOUSANDS of terrorists.
